Published

on

veryone loves the idea of finding hidden treasure, but we rarely come across any. However, the problem may not be that there isn’t enough hidden treasure left in the world, but that our idea of what hidden treasure is is way off. Personally, I imagine gold coins, jewels, and maybe a pirate sword or two. But treasure can be anything that you find interesting or important. In this way, there is plenty of hidden treasure to be found by all of us. And one surprising way to come across hidden treasure is by remodeling your home. Just imagine the secrets that are lying within the walls of your home right now! But if you’re not ready to start tearing down your own walls and ripping up the floorboards just yet, don’t worry. You can check out these images in the meantime.

1. Honey, There’s A Chain In The Wall.

After starting their remodel, this home-owner found an old chain within their walls. The house is from the 1930s so who knows what it was used for. If I owned this house, I’d follow that chain until I found its source. I don’t care how much drywall I’d have to take out, finding answers would be worth it.

2. Old-School Light Switch.

Here’s a treasure that wasn’t even hidden. It was found the first day after moving in. These old light switches are super cool and work just as well as any modern switch. Sometimes treasure is fixed right there to your wall.

3. Fans By Dre?

Style and fashion can change quickly. But oftentimes, if you wait long enough, that same style that you were into as a kid will come back around and be cool again. This vintage bathroom fan is an odd but perfect example. Its logo was cool-looking back in the 70s and then fell out of style. But once Beats By Dre was created, this logo came right back into the limelight.

4. No Toilet Needed.

When designing a house, sometimes you need to cut a few corners. Rather than building an extra bathroom in this guest room, the designers decided the just throw a shower in the wall. But hey, at least the room has hardwood floors. Just throw a mat down in front of the door and you’re in buisiness.

5. Bank House.

This house used to be a bank way-back-when. When it was remodeled, the vault was left where it was. Unfortunately, there was no money left inside. But this old safe functions perfectly as basement storage.

6. Secret Mural.

What could be better than finding a beautiful work of art behind an old torn-down wall? It’s treasures like these that make all of your hard work worth it. Of course, finishing the remodel is what really makes the work worth it, but getting a little boost half-way through the process can keep you motivated thrugh the end. These switches look like something straight out of a Frankenstein movie. They are the original electrical switches to this house and date back to 1909. Peronsally, I’d be hesitant to flip these in fear of getting electricuted. But hey, somebody’s got to do it.

9. Old-School Lightswitches #2

I used to work in an old building that had light switches like these. Not only do they look cool, but they are fun to push. I’m not sure why we moved away from the push-button and towards the flip-switch, but I’d be happy to see things go back to the way that they once were.

10. 1920s Mail Slot.

Some treasures are not only cool, but they are convenient as well. This original mail slot from 1929 sends the mail from the 17th floor all the way down to the basement. I’m sure that at one time the mail was collected there by someone. I’m not so sure if it is now, but it’d be worth the risk just so that you could use this awesome chute.

Unfortunately, looking for the treaure on the other side of this wall may just leave you with a night in the hospital getting stitches and being treated for tetnis. It’s just a bunch of old, rusty razor blades back there, waiting to be found.

Houses are rebuilt and remodeled so many times that it is often hard to know what the original floor plan was. However, in this house it is pretty clear what was built first–the well. It is easy to look at something and assume that you know what purpose it serves. Take a spoon for example. You take one look and you are sure that it is for eating. Now, you’re not wrong, but you’re not entirely right either. it has many more uses than that. At this house, it has been used as a door handle. And it looks pretty cool to me.

Dad Brings Laughter With Tutorial On How To Put Baby To Sleep

Published

on

He’s a husband and father first, but he’s also a funny comedy video creator. This New Zealand dad creates entertaining videos that get lots of hits because they’re downright hilarious. Jordan Watson shares parenting tips and tricks on his youtube page, with a great tongue in cheek style, that other dads (or anyone who takes care of kids) can relate to. Each video has his comedic sense of humor with a deadpan delivery, as he parodies the “how-to” videos that are popular on the internet.

Jordan Watson, from Aukland, New Zealand is a part-time landscaper, full-time dad, and viral video creator.

His first video was just a goof he put together when he was left alone with his baby, Alba. The video is titled, “How to Hold a Baby” and is currently at 3.7 million views. And that’s not even his most-watched video.

In an interview with Stuff, Watson still can’t believe the video went viral overnight,

“It was just me cutting together, in my eyes, crap – just me being an idiot and thinking that one guy at work’s going to like it.”

Source: Youtube Screenshot

He chalks his success up to,

“Every parent can kind of relate, and there’s so many people out there who’re aunties, uncles, they look after people’s kids… It’s just everyday scenarios with kids which has given me the inspiration for it.”

Jordan always wears his trademark shirt and shorts or as they’re called in New Zealand, Togs.

In this video, which currently has over four million views, Jordan offers his own witty advice on how to put a baby to sleep. He lists and demonstrates a number of techniques, all with a deadpan delivery that only Jordan can muster.

Some examples are “The Hypnotist,” where dad dangles a nearby toy in front of the baby and coaxes her to sleep.

Another good one is called “The Bribe Dad.” Where dad bribes the baby to go to sleep with, “tomorrow I’ll let you climb the curtains.”

There’s, “Method Acting,” where dad pretends to be sleepy himself, and lays on the floor in order to convince the baby to sleep, too.

Source: Youtube Screenshot

“The Dad That Doesn’t Know A Single Lullaby,” where Jordan mumbles and mishmashes his way through what might sound similar to some known Lullabies.

Source: Youtube Screenshot

The funny thing about this video is that the real star is not Jordan.

No, it’s his baby daughter, Alba. She is such an integral part of the humor, because nearly every time Dad tries his methods, they work. The little one lays down to go to sleep, and her comedic timing is perfect. Dad administers the technique, Alba listens, and then to our rousing laughter, she complies. Leaving Jordan to say,

“It’s never really that easy.”

In Stuff, Jordan had this to say about his daughter,

“I think if you take Alba the cute baby out of it, they’re not going to do very well – it’s definitely 99 percent her, 1 percent me.”

Source: Youtube Screenshot

Many Youtubers are head over heels for this video, and it’s stars.

“How the baby could understand that he is acting?”

“This child should be the highest paid child actor!”

Another Youtuber wonders,

“I don’t know if that baby is just insanely intelligent, an animatronic, a paid actor or if the dad just really knows his stuff?”

Get ready to laugh with this video. And prepare to go down the rabbit hole as “How To Dad,” Jordan Watson, has an ever-growing collection of funny videos. He feeds his followers a video a week, and probably feeds his charming family with the proceeds.

All in, he’s a really great husband and father, enjoy his funny “how-to” below!

Restaurant Adds Cute Stuffed Pandas To Help Customers During Social Distancing

Published

on

The past couple of months have been tough.

Health concerns, loss of income, and not being able to socialize has been extremely frustrating.

We are social creatures after all and it is in our nature to want to spend time with one another.

I personally live with four other roommates, so getting my fill of social connection hasn’t been too hard.

But I know many people who live alone and haven’t interacted with anyone in quite a while–and it’s starting to take its toll.

Even with four people in my house, I’m still itching for some social interaction with others.

Luckily, restrictions around COVID-19 are starting to lighten up.

Although many stores and restaurants are still closed, we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel for this whole quarantine business.

But things are still far from normal.

Even if stores are open, you’re still required to wear a mask and keep the recommended six-foot distance from everyone else.

So when one restaurant in Thailand opened its doors for the first time in months, they had some obstacles to overcome.

Maison Saigon, a Vietnamese restaurant in Bangkok, originally planned on having only one chair at each table to promote social distancing according to Insider.

But that just wasn’t cutting it.

When the owner, Natthwut Rodchanapanthkul, saw what the restaurant looked like with only one chair per table, he wasn’t satisfied.

He told reports at Reuters, “Earlier we had only one chair for the tables where the customer came alone. But for me, it felt strange, so I thought I’d give them some company.”

But how do you give someone company at a table when you aren’t supposed to be anywhere near each other?

By bringing in big stuffed pandas of course!

Source: Maison Saigon

The owner placed stuffed panda bears in various chairs around the restaurant to give it a more cheery and inviting vibe.

It also helped reinforce the social distancing rule according to Bored Panda.

And it worked great.

One customer told Reuters, “The doll makes me feel less lonely eating by myself.”

Another customer explained that the stuffed animals not only improved the vibe of the place, but it made seating arrangements more clear as well.

He told reporters, “It’s a lot easier to understand compared to other restaurants where people always get confused about where to sit and end up sitting too close to each other.”

Source: Maison Saigon

Now is the time when we need to get creative about the way that we do things.

Sure the owner of Maison Saigon could have just put up a bunch of signs that told people where they could and could not sit.

But how lame would that have been?

Nothing makes tough times harder than boring rules and stiff regulations.

It takes a little fun to shake things up!

And having a meal next to a giant, cuddly, cute stuffed panda sure does lighten the mood a bit.

Source: Maison Saigon

So if you happen to be stuck at home by yourself right now, maybe give this stuffed animal trick a try.

Put a few on your couch, a couple at the dinner table, and maybe even one out on the deck.

Whatever it takes to get through this isolation period with a little bit of sanity is worth it.

And don’t be too surprised if you find that one small panda goes a long way.
