50+ Tips And Tricks Revealed By Makeup Artists
New year, new you! Maybe one of your resolutions this year is to get more enthusiastic about applying your makeup every morning or to try a new eyeshadow shade, or maybe you are just looking for new ways to get the best bang for your buck.
We did the research for you and found a bunch of makeup hacks revealed by actual makeup artists themselves. Hopefully one of these tips will come in handy!

1.) Use the right foundation for your skin type
Use a water-based foundation if you have oily skin. Use an oil-based foundation if you have dry skin. Everyone is different.

2.) You don’t need a lip liner with your liquid matte lipstick
And if anyone tells you that you do, they are a liar. Almost all liquid lipsticks do just fine on their own.

3.) Let your eyelid primer dry before adding eyeshadow
And after the primer dries, coat them with a light, neutral color all over your lid. This will act as a base and will make it easier to blend colors together. If you want a dark color, slowly build it – first with light colors, and then darker. Don’t just go straight from light to dark.

4.) Save your mascara brush
Fun fact: most of the mascara magic actually comes from the brush. So if you found one that really works for you, save the brush when you’re done, clean it, and try using it with a cheaper bottle! It’s really not necessary to spend big bucks on this.

5.) Make your matte, full-coverage concealer look more natural with primer oil or coconut oil
Use just a drop of the oil of your choice and it will make your heavy concealer more radiant, easy to blend, and natural. It also helps with creasing!

6.) Use hairspray to tame full eyebrows
First, spray hairspray on a clean, disposable mascara wand. Then brush your brows up and into the shape you’re going for. If it makes the hair on our head stay in place, it definitely works for the hair on our face!

7.) Wet your brush before applying highlighter
It will instantly give it a little more glow.

8.) Don’t apply primer with your fingers
It can cause micro-exfoliation, which causes clumps.

9.) Use a matte bronzer to make your eyes look bigger
If you’re doing a full face of makeup but want to keep your eyes bare, put a little bit of matte bronzer in your lid crease and bottom lashline. That way, they will still be bare, but they will also appear bigger.

10.) Never use face soap with sodium laureth sulfate
Makeup artists swear that it dries out your skin.

11.) Stick to matte eyeshadows and powders if you have fine lines on and around your eyelids
Using something shimmery usually accentuates those lines.

12.) Always do your eye makeup before your foundation
That way, you will have an easier time cleaning up any fallout from your eyeshadow.

13.) Always exfoliate and prime your lips with a serum
Especially when using a liquid matte lipstick. Cracked lips will show!

14.) Use scotch tape for the perfect eyeliner wing
Angle it from your eye to your eyebrow for the crispest, cleanest eyeliner wing you’ll ever see. Boom, magic.

15.) Use eyeshadow primer on the lash line
Then sweep eyeshadow on top with a fine liner brush to create a smudge-proof eyeliner. Now if you’re out of eyeliner, you can use your shadows for the same effect!

16.) You can also use a cotton pad
If you use cotton pads to apply your face makeup, use those same pads for your eyeliner! Simply fold it in half and use the straight side to line up with your eye for the perfect sweep. No tape needed.

17.) If you accidentally get mascara around your eyes, let it dry
Wait 5 minutes or so and then swipe it away with a Q-tip. At that point, it should flake off and not smudge.

18.) Never share makeup brushes
It’s super unsanitary.

19.) Tarte’s Timeless Smoothing Primer is an absolute must
It’s soft and it doesn’t clog pores. What more could you want?

20.) Imagine a line from the outer corner of your eye to the tip of your brow. This is where your eyeshadow should stop.
A lot of times, people make the mistake of not bringing out their eyeshadow far enough. This can actually make the eyebrow look smaller.

21.) If you’re just starting out and want to learn how to contour, put the contour color on a brush or sponge first
It will be harder to blend if you draw it on directly like lines.

22.) Don’t sleep in your makeup
“Skin needs time to breathe and when you’re sleeping, your body is repairing the most. Sleeping in makeup is not only messy, but it causes breakouts, premature aging, and stained bedding. Take care of your skin, loves!”

23.) Don’t recreate the celebrities
“Those looks are made for them, their skin type, skin tone, and face shape. People always come into my shop and request to look like Kim Kardashian and I have to explain to them that it might not work on them and sometimes they even get upset when it doesn’t turn out. Yes, I can do it, but it won’t look good on you. Instead ask for something dramatic like Kim Kardashian or whatever you want but do not ask to look like them!”

24.) Invest in good skin care products
“Your makeup, no matter how much you paid for it, will not look its best when it’s added on top of dry, scaly, splotchy, oily and just plain unhappy skin. Want to get makeup optional skin? INVEST in skin care.”

25.) Don’t start from the top lash line if you’re doing winged eyeliner, use the bottom lash line for a smoother, straighter line
And look at the wing you drew first while drawing your second one.

26.) Never store your makeup in a bathroom cabinet
The humidity can cause it to alter and go bad before its time, plus toilet germs.

27.) Blend your foundation out onto your neck
“When wearing foundation please blend it out. Put product on your jawline, and blend it out into your neck. Also blend the foundation along the edges of your face out. It’ll help create a natural look and make it less obvious you’re wearing foundation, plus it will visually improve your color match.”

28.) Don’t use stark white concealer under your eyes
“Use an under-eye concealer one shade lighter than your face concealer, not two or three shades. It will give you a naturally bright effect instead of a contrasting white effect, which looks super unnatural.”

29.) Apply setting powder with a damp beauty blender or brush
This does wonders for people with dry or textured skin and gives a smooth, airbrushed finish.

30.) The same foundation that works for you in the summer might not work for you in the winter
For example, I use a more moisturizing foundation in the winter (Too Faced Born This Way) and prefer a more matte coverage in the summer (Hourglass Stick Foundation).

31.) For eyeshadow, tap the excess eyeshadow off the brush
Also hold the brush farther from the handle for more control.

32.) Blend your foundation into your hairline and make sure to contour that too
Everyone knows to drag their makeup down their neck a little bit, but too often I see people with a line between their makeup and hair. Not a good look!

33.) Stop blowing on your makeup brushes
“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people do this and it makes me cringe. Brushes already harbor bacteria if not cleaned and taken care of properly; you blowing on your brushes and getting saliva particles all over it isn’t helping considering you’re applying it directly to your face therefore causing breakouts, clogged pores, etc. If you’ve picked up too much product, just tap it off or give your brush a little shake.”

34.) Use a foundation one shade darker on the outer edge of your face to add depth

35.) If your skin is very oily, apply a light layer of powder after you apply your primer and before you apply your foundation
It’ll give you a smoother look. Also, baby powder works great for baking your face. I use it for everything!

36.) Glowing cheeks that look natural
“”Add your favorite blush to the cheeks before you apply foundation for a glow that looks like it’s coming from beneath the skin. A bright, warm pink at the apple is perfect for any complexion.”
– James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and director of artistry for Ardency Inn

37.) Multi-colors on the cheeks is important
“Apply two shades of blush for the perfect flush of youth. Pink, or anything in the red family should be placed on the apple of the cheek; it will give the effect of blood coming to the surface. Peach, coral, or anything in the orange family should be applied to the highest point of the cheekbone; that gives the effect of heat rising. Finish by bringing a matte bronzer to the skin where sun hits the face (forehead, cheekbone, bridge of nose, and chin).”
– James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and director of artistry for Ardency Inn

38.) Lighten your coverage
“Mixing foundation with moisturizer is an easy way to lighten your coverage options if you already have a fuller coverage foundation.”
– Caitlin Wooters, makeup artist
39.) Make sure those lashes get coated
“Use the handle of a brush to lift the eyelid at the base of the lashes to roll your lashes up and back; this allows you to wiggle the mascara wand against the base of the lashes and pull through any clumps in a clean and precise manner.”
– Kara Yoshimoto Bua, Chanel celebrity makeup artist
40.) Don’t be afraid of red
“If you want to find the perfect red for your complexion, try applying one lip color that has the same undertone as your complexion all over the lip: Cool uses cool, warm uses warm. Apply a red with the opposite tone just to the center for a lip that looks full and fantastic.”
– James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and director of artistry for Ardency Inn
41.) Reach for the school supplies
“No. 2 pencils are the perfect graphite shade to sketch in natural eyebrow hairs. Sharpen one to a point and draw in lightly for a finished brow.”
– James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and director of artistry for Ardency Inn
42.) Thicken up watery foundation
“To make foundation thicker, mix in a touch of loose powder. (Be careful not to add too much or it will cake.)”
– Cecilia Muench, creative director of Inglot
43.) Chill out and reduce puff
“To reduce puffiness, pop eye lotion in the icebox and apply to lids before eye makeup.”
– Petra Strand, creator of Pixi by Petra
44.) Find the right lip shade
“Test lipstick on the inside of your fingertip, rather than on the back of your hand. The pad of your finger closely resembles your own lip color, so see which one looks best there, then move to the lips.”
– Kerry Cole, style director of Becca Cosmetics

45.) The power of gold
“Gold powder pigment is a great way to lengthen lashes or brows. Use a clean spoolie brush, toothbrush, or mascara wand, and brush a bronze or yellow gold pigment through a mascared lash or brow for a beautiful effect that adds dimension without looking hard.”
– James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and director of artistry for Ardency Inn
46.) Who knew?
“Halloween is the perfect time to stock up on some unexpected essentials. Fake blood is the ideal blush shade. Add it to the apple of the cheek for any skin tone—it looks like a natural flush of color coming though the skin.”
– James Vincent, celebrity makeup artist and director of artistry for Ardency Inn
47.) You better stock up on your next visit!
“Starbucks napkins and disposable toilet-seat covers work just as well as blotting papers.”
– Kerry Cole, style director of Becca Cosmetics
48.) If it works, it works!
“As a little girl, I would watch my mother apply egg whites to her face (especially around her eyes) about an hour or two before going out to a special event. She would take one egg, separate it, whisk it until it was frothy, and apply the egg white all over her face and leave it on for 20 minutes. After, she would wash it off with lukewarm water and immediately apply her makeup. The egg white tightens the skin and wrinkles to give you a temporary facelift.”
– Niki Metz, director of artistry for Jouer
49.) Who doesn’t want to look younger?
“My favorite ‘look younger’ makeup tip is to first use a luminizer in the inner corner, then swoop it with a fan brush underneath the eye. This brightens the face.”
– Deanna Melluso, celebrity makeup artist
50.) Pucker that pout
“Use a flesh-toned eyeliner to outline the lips along the Cupid’s bow. This reduces the chance of feathering and makes lips appear fuller.”
– Petra Strand, creator of Pixi by Petra
51.) Better safe than sorry
“If you can’t find a perfect shade, buy one that’s slightly darker than your skin and one that’s slightly lighter, then fine-tune the color yourself.”

52.) Strange but effective
“Pull your bottom lip down and look at the inside color. Pick a lipstick shade that’s either lighter or a bit deeper but along the same tone as the inside of your lip. Oh, and don’t do this in public.”
– Maggie Ford Danielson, Benefit global beauty authority
53.) Buff, buff, buff!
“Buff, buff, buff foundation into the skin — quickly, like a whirlwind — with a brush. It ensures the coverage won’t look heavy-handed.”
54.) Instant lip lift
“Apply concealer to the outer corners of your lips to give your lips a lift.”
– Niki Metz, director of artistry for Jouer

55.) Fuller brows while you sleep
“Apply a nourishing balm to your eyebrows before going to bed. This will guarantee extra strength and growth—thicker eyebrows in two weeks.”
– Terry de Gunzburg, founder of By Terry

Woman Reluctantly Agrees To Cutting Her Long Hair

Change is good. It’s almost always a welcome transition for most people. New job, move to a new place, new partner, new hobby… There’s that feeling of resetting and rewiring oneself for the better part of healing. So wherever you are in this world, don’t be afraid to take a few risks every now and then.
They say time waits for no one. Before you know it, age hits you and that feeling of weariness sets in. So how does one deal with the onset of age? How about a makeover?

Exactly what this lady went for. Here she is with the MAKEOVERGUY getting ready for a fresh, new look.
He is Christopher Hopkins. According to his website, he is,
“… an entrepreneur, entertainer, cyber-star, author, and appearance aficionado. Affectionately known as The Makeover Guy®, Christopher provides uplifting, inspirational, and informative videos as well as exclusive makeover services.”

Christopher has been at it for three decades now. That’s right, since 1990, he has stunned audiences with his work while also receiving standing ovations from all around the world when he sings for orchestras. This guy is quite a unique talent.
This lady herself said it. She’s in her fifties, feels old, and wants to feel “new”.

Being the professional that he is, Hopkins asks her a few questions, just to get to know her and see what she’s going for. It gives the artist a “feel” for what he’s working with which helps open his mind to more possibilities.

They go back and forth trading insights as to how she wants to be after the makeover, while Christopher shares his wisdom as to how he sees her when he’s done. She goes on to say how she likes it long, that it’s been long her whole life, and that she doesn’t really want it too short.

Well, Christopher had other ideas. He’s not the expert for nothing!
He grabs the bottom part of her her and palms it for awhile as he goes on to tell her about his ideas. She’s having a great time, laughing and looking very relaxed considering she’s in the chair about to undergo a transformation at her age.

Then the artist grabs a pair of scissors and in one smooth motion, snips the entire bottom half of her hair off, and Hopkins just coolly sets it down in front of her much to her amazement and shock. Look at her face!
Obviously relieved and delighted, she starts admiring herself with a bright smile suddenly seeing the many possibilities this makeover could do for her. Oh but Hopkins is not done. Not by a long shot!

He goes on styling her hair with a blower. She gets her makeup done too!
Now I won’t go into too many details as you’ll have to see it for yourself. But she describes herself feeling,
“Younger, vibrant, happy. Coming down the stairs I said, ‘I feel really sassy right now”.
Even her makeup did wonders! She definitely looks younger and her vibe on camera seems to radiate a bubbly, energetic young lady once again. Hopkins took the length she wanted to keep, but gave her something else in return.
Sometimes, what we want for ourselves isn’t always better. A view from the outside can be what we just need.

40 Weird But Genius Beauty Hacks

Maintaining a healthy body is really hard work, especially as you age. And, let’s face it, we all get more wrinkles and blotchier skin each year. In order to minimize signs of aging, you might try applying more makeup and other beauty products to help you look younger. This beauty routine can begin to take a toll, because it can take a long time to go apply so many beauty products.
While we all try to make the makeup-applying process as short as possible, it’s pretty hard to cut corners. To make matters worse, no matter what you do, certain problems, such as chapped skin, sagging body parts, and unmanageable hair, might make this task take even longer.
Luckily, there are some amazing hacks that can make this often-drawn-out process easier. These hacks can help you more easily beautify your looks while simplifying your daily makeup ritual, often saving you valuable time in the process.
1) Firmer Breasts
Drooping breasts can result from malnourished skin, so keep your skin hydrated if you want firmer breasts. Some say that by rubbing Vaseline on your breasts every night before bed, you will notice that your breasts are firmer and the skin is more elastic after just two weeks.

2) DIY Lip Stain
If you ever find yourself without your favorite lipstick, you can use this helpful hack. Wet an eye shadow in the color you want, and apply it to your lips. This hack should keep your lips colored until you have time to stop by the store for lipstick.

3) Tame Unruly Eyebrows
Sometimes your eyebrows have a mind of their own. If your eyebrows become unruly while you are on the go, apply some lip balm to keep them in place. When applying the lip balm, use a spoolie brush to ensure that the lip balm is worked properly through the brow.

4) Great Smelling Hair
If you want your hair to smell amazing, there are a few ways to do it. The first is to buy a strongly scented shampoo. Another way is to spray perfume onto your hairbrush and brush your hair a few times. This might be too much for people with thin hair, but if your hair is thicker, give it a try.

5) Clump-Free Lashes
A common problem with eyelashes is that mascara can become clumped up on your lower lashes. To prevent this, use a fan brush for more delicate application as opposed to a mascara wand, which can often leave smudges or clumps.

6) Fast Hair-Drying Method
To quickly dry long hair, use an old T-shirt. The cotton material is less harsh on the hair and allows the hair to retain some of the moisture from your bath or shower while still allowing you to dry it. Best of all, this hair-drying method can prevent frizzy hair.

7) Freshening Facial Spray
This spray will make you look and feel fresh, even after a long day. Mix together 1 part aloe gel and 3 parts purified water. Pour into a spray bottle, and give yourself a spray as often as you want.

8) Brighter Smokey Eye
If you prefer a brighter smokey eye look, then this method is for you. Start by applying a cream-colored eye shadow to your eye lids. Next, using a long shadow brush, add the color of your choice, buffing it outwards as you apply it. Apply concealer if you need to diffuse the color.

9) False Eyelash Application Trick
False eyelashes are great if you want to have longer, fuller eyelashes, but they are often a pain to apply. To make this process much easier, cut up the eyelashes into thirds before applying them. Then simply apply the lashes one section at a time.

10) Strawberries to Whiten Teeth
Strawberries are naturally acidic, which makes them great at whitening teeth. Just use caution: Natural teeth whitening treatments can be hard on your teeth. If you feel sensitivity, stop and consider speaking to a dentist. To whiten your teeth, mix 1 teaspoon of grated strawberries with 1 teaspoon of baking soda, then use it as a substitute for your toothpaste about twice a month.

11) Cheap Glam Glow
For a cheap glam glow look, use cream or dry oil on your cheeks for a similar affect. Apply the dry oil cream to your cheekbones, making sure not to overdo it. If needed, dab away excess product using a tissue.

12) Toothbrush and Hairspray Flyaway Hack
To easily tame pesky flyaways, apply hair spray and use a toothbrush to work the hair back into place. The toothbrush is small enough to allow you to manage single strands easily, while the hairspray helps to keep the hair in place once you are done.

13) Activated Charcoal Mask
Yes, you can make your own activated charcoal mask. Mix 2 tablespoons of activated charcoal with 1.5 tablespoons of agar powder. Dissolve them in hot water until the solution turns jelly-like. Then apply to your face for about 30 minutes.

14) DIY Fake Long Nails
If you have short nails but prefer the long look of a French manicure, then this hack is for you. To create the illusion of longer nails, paint the nail tip wider than it actually is by painting over part of the nail bed. This makes it seem like the nail is longer.

15) Longer-Lasting Perfume Scent
To make the scent of your perfume last longer, apply a little Vaseline to the areas where you apply the perfume beforehand. The Vaseline should keep the perfume from wearing off too quickly, making its scent stick around longer.

16) Soften Your Heels
If you walk around a lot, you are likely to have calloused feet. Soak your feet to soften them. Mix together 2 cups warm water, 1 cup vinegar, and 1/2 cup baking soda. Soak your feet for about 20 minutes, and then dry with a towel and rehydrate.

17) Fake Bangs
Some days you may want a change in your look. Fortunately, the following hack can give you the look of having bangs even if you don’t have them. To create fake bangs, simply tease your hair into place. Next, clip the bangs into place using a hairclip. If needed, create a zig-zag part in your hair to help hide the clip.

18) Foot Odor Hack
Use dry shampoo to cut down on smelly foot odor. To use this hack, spray the bottom of your foot with the dry shampoo before putting on your footwear. The shampoo should absorb any oils or sweat generated by your feet, keeping down the stinky smell.

19) Soothe Your Sunburn
When we get sunburned, the pain actually comes from the skin being dehydrated. Rehydrating your skin will soothe the burn and may even prevent you from peeling. Aloe Vera is the best solution when it comes to sunburns.

20) Perfect No-Heat Curls
To create the perfect curl in your hair without having to apply damaging heat, dampen your hair with a hold-and-shine hair product. Next, twist sections of your hair into a long spiral while it is still wet. Secure that spiral in a bun, and hold them in place with a rubber band. Once dry, pull out the rubber bands.

21) Talcum Powder Eyelash Trick
Long, beautiful lashes are usually the envy of many women. Now you can have them too, even if your eyelashes are not very long. To create longer eyelashes, apply talcum powder to your lashes with a brush. Follow this up with mascara.

22) Ground Potato Compress
If the skin on your armpits is too dark, lighten it with potatoes. Grind the potato into a compress, and then place it on your skin for about an hour. Your armpits will be lighter.

23) Easy Glitter Application
If you love glitter and use it in your makeup routine, here is an easy way to apply it to your eyelids. Apply clear lip gloss as an adhesive to stick the glitter too. For shaping the glitter, use surgical tape to remove the glitter in small amounts. Surgical tape is not as sticky as regular tape and is perfect for this task.

24) Static Removal Hack
Do you want an easy way to remove static from your clothing? Use hairspray. If you notice static in your clothing, spray some hairspray to the inside of the garment. The static should disappear. You can also use hand lotion for this by simply applying it to the area where the static is occurring.

25) Blackheads Remover
This DIY mask will take care of those pesky blackheads. Mix together 1 teaspoon of warm water, 1 teaspoon of honey, and 1 tablespoon of flour. Dip a cloth into the solution, and then apply it to your skin. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes.

26) Volumize Straight Hair
Straight hair can sometimes lack volume, meaning your hair lies flat on your head. To give it some volume, use a rounded hairbrush placed under the hair as you’re drying it. Work your hair up with the brush and then around in a “C” shape. This should raise your hair off of your scalp and give it some volume.

27) Dryer Sheet Flyaway Hack
Another way to defeat flyaways is to use a dryer sheet. Simply rub your hair with a dryer sheet to remove any static. Keep in mind, unless you want your hair to smell like fabric softener, look for unscented dryer sheets to use for this purpose.

28) Nail Strengthener
If your nails could use a little love, try this DIY tincture to make them stronger and more beautiful. Mix equal parts of coconut oil and honey, and then add a few drops of lavender. Pour it into a nail polish bottle, and brush it onto your nails.

29) Give Your Lips More Volume
Back in the ’80s and ’90s, dark lip liner was all the rage, as teens everywhere sought that Goth look. Instead of using a darker lip line to give your lips more volume, consider using a lip liner that is lighter in color than the rest of your lip. So now, instead of looking broody, you look more light and cheery.

30) Business Card Mascara Hack
This trick allows you to apply your mascara without getting it all over your freshly applied eye shadow. All you need is a business or appointment card. Use the card as a barrier to keep the mascara off of your eye shadow.

31) Sugar Scrub for Leg Hair
Sugar makes a great natural exfoliant and doesn’t irritate the skin like a waxing treatment does. Mix 1/4 cup lemon juice, 2 cups sugar, and 1/4 cup water into a bowl. Heat it over low heat until it all melts together; it should look golden. Let it cool, and apply it to the skin. Then sharply remove and rinse.

32) Hide Blemishes
Looking for an easy way to hide blemishes? Use a small brush to apply your concealer and foundation to the blemish. All it takes is a dot to make the blemish disappear. Then, apply powder on top to set them in place.

33) Eye Shadow Root Touchup
If you notice your roots are starting to show and you are pressed for time, use this simple hack to touch them up. Take a little eye shadow, in the shade that matches your hair, and use a makeup brush to blend it into your roots.

34) DIY Anti-Cellulite Wrap
If you are going to do a wrap, use caution: This practice can come with unforeseen health risks. But if you are dying to try it, mix together 2 tablespoons of ground ginger, 5 tablespoons of cosmetic clay, and 10 tablespoons of warm water. Apply the mixture to your skin, and then wrap the area in plastic. Leave it on for an hour, and then unwrap yourself and shower off.

35) Long-Lasting Makeup Hack
This hack can help prolong the life of your makeup. Simply use a tissue to gently rub, or dab away any excess moisture or oils on your face after applying it before you apply any powder. Removing the moisture first allows the makeup to set better and last longer once you apply any powder.

36) Shaving Cream Makeup Stain Remover
An easy and scrub-free way to remove makeup stains from your skin is to use shaving cream. When removing the stain, apply the shaving cream and massage it into the stained area. Finally, rinse the area with water.

37) Erase Circles Under Your Eyes
Keep your coffee grounds and use them on your eyes. Mix 1 part grounds and 1 part coconut oil, and then gently rub onto the skin. Leave it on for about 15 minutes, and do this routine three to four times a week.

38) Green Teabag Chapped Lip Hack
A green teabag is the perfect remedy for chapped lips. Dampen the tea bag in warm water, and rub it on your chapped lips for about five minutes. The antioxidants in the tea are effective at moisturizing your dry lips.

39) Sea Salt in Your Hair
Greasy hair is THE WORST, but you don’t have to worry anymore. Add 2 to 3 teaspoons of sea salt to your shampoo and shake. Now your roots can stay clean longer.

40) DIY Eyelash Enhancer
Keep your old mascara bottles, and make your own eyelash enhancing serum. Mix together 1 part aloe, 1 part castor oil, and 2 parts vitamin E. Put it on every night before you go to bed, and within a month you will notice your eyelashes growing thicker.

40 Bizarre Wedding Dresses That Never Should Have Existed

Choosing a wedding dress can be intimidating. There are so many different styles and materials to consider. Some brides have had a specific vision in their head of what they want since they were little girls, while others feel overwhelmed at the prospect of making a choice. And that’s not even factoring in the cost, with many brides paying thousands of dollars for their wedding dress.
With the cost of some designer dresses, it’s no wonder that many brides are turning to other places to find their perfect gown. Some go rummaging in thrift stores, others rework their grandmother or mother’s dress, and some even rent a gown for the day. The simple fact is, there are dozens of ways to end up with a beautiful dress for your wedding day without forking over a lot of money.
Some brides love a classic, traditional look, while others enjoy pushing the bar and finding modern styles, patterns, and colors. And then there are the brides who make such bizarre choices, they wind up going viral on the internet — some even decades after their wedding took place.
We won’t judge if you got your wedding dress in a thrift shop. But these bizarre dresses are another story.
1. There’s nothing like wearing a wedding dress that resembles a tampon.

Everything about this is horrible, from the bows to the frills to the bizarre shape with the bride’s face peeking out. Was anyone at the wedding able to keep a straight face?
2. This Dress can double as a snowman character.

I have a lot of questions about this one. For one, where are her arms? What’s up with that shape? I guess at the end of the day, the two of them look happy, and that’s the most important thing.
3. You may now slice the bride.

Presumably, this means that she couldn’t move all day until the guests ate down to her legs. It also seems sticky and kind of unsanitary but to each their own, I guess.
4. Needs more ruffles.

Everything about this bridal outfit is taken to the next level. Anywhere there can be a frill, there’s a frill, from the headpiece to the sleeves to the embellished skirt. Let’s hope, for the poor bride’s sake, that the wedding was during the winter.
5. No one hug her too hard!

Okay, we’ll admit that this is some impressive balloon work, but it’s definitely an odd choice for a wedding dress. But my biggest question is about that balloon bouquet that doesn’t exactly resemble flowers.
6. Why have a wedding dress when you can have wedding bloomers?

If you want to get married while also looking like you’re wearing old-timey pantaloons, we have the perfect outfit for you. Just add some whimsical feathers and way too many roses and we’ll call it perfect.
7. When you’re getting married at 5 and robbing a bank at 6

There’s quite literally no part of this ensemble that doesn’t prompt questions. The skirt appears to be made from paper Mache, there’s a lace crop top, and that head gear…there are no words.
8. She doubles as decoration for the reception.

This comes across as a bizarre way to hide the fact that it’s a shotgun wedding. Why else would the bride dress as a ball of ruffles on her special day? We’re sure quite what was going though the designers mind when they made it.
9. When you really love pineapples.

This bizarre wedding dress looks like a tuxedo on the top and pineapple on the bottom. It’s perfect for the wedding of a pineapple farmer who still wants to be classy. That’s probably who it’s for, right?
10. Inspired by Little Bo Peep.

While some brides go for ultra-slinky dresses, this one went in an entirely different direction. She appears to be channeling her inner shepherdess, with an impressive headpiece and truly unfortunate bloomers. The poof is absolutely out of this world.
11. Ohhhh, it’s a PEACOCK.

This bride tried to think out of the box and go for a unique peacock theme, but unfortunately, it doesn’t look so good in practice. Instead, it looks like she’s wearing a normal wedding dress with a bunch of flowers and feathers glued haphazardly on the front.
12. The hottest new style of the year 3019.

Have you ever wondered what the bride of the future might look like? Apparently, she’ll have almost no hair and a veil that looks like a pair of futuristic goggles. And no smiling allowed at weddings in the future, apparently.
13. This bride let her love of K-cups go a little too far.

I’m honestly not sure what this designer was going for. Are those supposed to be bells? Roses? Whatever they are, they’re more distracting than anything else and there are way too many of them.
14. Is…is that…toilet paper?

We get it. Wedding dresses are expensive. But it seems like there are a few other steps you could take — borrowing one, shopping at a thrift store, renting one — before resorting to making one out of toilet paper.
15. Eliza Doolittle gone wrong.

Non-white wedding dresses are coming back in style and we’re all for it! The pink color alone is not the problem here. But the pink combined with the hat, bows, lace, and ruffles? It’s all a little much.
16. At least she recycles.

Who knew you could find not one, but two wedding dresses made out of toilet paper? This bride left all the rolls attached to her dress, causing a catastrophe everywhere she goes.
17. But she loves recycling even more.

We’re all for upcycling, but it’s possible to take it just a little bit too far. When you’re making your own wedding dress using a pile of trash, you might be trying too hard. At this point, you look less like a bride and more like a landfill.
18. The best I can say is they’re all clean.

Newsflash to all lovers of experiments: just because it’s white doesn’t mean it’s a wedding dress. Case in point – this diaper dress. Aside from being a massive waste, why on earth would anyone think this is a good idea?
19. There’s such a thing as too revealing and she mastered it.

Finding the right wedding dress when you’re expecting a baby can be difficult. This bride decided to go for the most in-your-face version, which includes a belly window. It must have been really awkward hugging guests that day.
20. So to be clear, they’re both almost naked.

The newest and worst trend in wedding dresses is body paint, which is exactly what it sounds like. Those spiffy wedding duds are…just paint on their bare skin. But since they’re wearing underwear and some embellishments, they’re not technically naked.
21. Seems a little sticky.

We’ve had balloon gowns and diaper gowns – now get ready for a cream puff gown that’s just as awkward as it sounds. This seems kind of unsanitary and definitely sticky — and she clearly can’t sit down.
22. Their wedding was colorful — literally.

This couple had a very specific vision in mind when it came to their wedding. It involved long black robes and, well — this. But at the very least, they look very happy, even if their outfit choices are a bit bizarre.
23. Weird flex, but OK.

This bride decided to go for a Guinness world record for the longest wedding dress ever recorded. Unfortunately, she was beat in 2017 by a bride from France whose wedding train was long enough to cover Mount Everest.
24. The theme was butterfly netting.

We’d bet a lot of money that the guests at this wedding were intensely uncomfortable. Imagine trying to give the bridal couple a hug and not staring at her see-through dress and white bikini.
25. She loves sheep and she’s proving it twice.

If there’s anything odder than a themed wedding, it might be one with a sheep theme.. Not only is the bride wearing a dress made out of wool, but she’s also leading a woolly friend on a leash. Which is great. Apparently, she really likes sheep.
26. Nothing accessorizes like devil horns.

This dress is a statement all on its own, but it’s really set off by the devil horns. There’s nothing like making a statement on your wedding day…even if it’s not completely clear what the statement is.
27. I think it needs more sparkles.

This bride clearly had a vision when it came to her wedding dress. She’s not interested in the classic white lace or chiffon. Instead, she’s all about the sparkles, ruffles, and pink hearts. At least she owns it.
28. How to make a dress out of actual trash.

This lady looks like she may have wandered into a flock of chickens by mistake. But as strange as her dress is, there’s no denying the look of pure joy on her face. And even if she has a unique look, that’s what’s most important.
29. I wonder if she’s a vegetarian.

This bride isn’t exactly being subtle about her allegiances. She’s from a hunting family and she owns it. And apparently, it’s a big enough part of her life to play a role in her wedding.
30. Part bride, part Harley Davidson.

This bride also had a vision for her unique wedding look. It appears she’s making a statement about the love she has for her new husband but it could also be a statement about her love for her motorcycle.
31. When you love roses, royalty, and Creamsicles

They say that when you plan a party, you should stick to one theme. This couple wasn’t interested in that. They combined so many different ideas that you’re not even sure where to look first.
32. If you want to stand out, a red feather boa is the way to do it.

This bride decided to go all out on the red and white feathers, even topping it all off with a red feather umbrella. The black fingerless gloves are an interesting touch, giving the whole outfit a knockoff Eliza Doolittle vibe.
33. The day Glinda the Good Witch was married.

Do you know what the best thing is about this picture, beyond the voluminous dress, the over-the-top crown, and the fairy wand? The fact that her new husband is almost being smothered by her dress and he doesn’t look too thrilled about it.
34. This one doesn’t seem comfortable.

Say what you want about dresses made out of feathers or diapers, but at least they’re soft and comfortable. On the other hand, this bizarre red solo cup “dress” seems like it would be extremely unpleasant to wear. It sends quite an interesting message.
35. Well, I guess if you like it, you should own it.

Well, we’ll say one thing for this unusual couple: they look really, really happy. Sure, they’re dressed as ogres who are also cartoon characters. But they’re clearly having a blast on their wedding day.
36. Wait, where’s your partner?

I have so many questions. Did the guests know the wedding would be a one person show? I’m not quite sure what to say.
37. Nothing says “class” like having spray paint on your backside.

The look for this wedding was casual, sort of. Well, the bride is in a full gown and veil, but everyone else is in street clothes. And there is the matter of the word “wifey” spray-painted across her butt.
38. Until death do us part, right?

We get it, you want to spend the rest of your lives together. We all hope to do that with our someone special but the coffin and face makeup may have taken it just a tad bit too far.
39. How many did she spill?

The dress itself is actually lovely and tasteful. It’s the accessories that are odd. Specifically, those 50 glasses of champagne she’s wearing. I guess that’s one way to make sure all the guests congratulate the bride.
40. When you put too much soap in the washing machine

The expression on this bride’s face is almost as hilarious as the amount of poof in her dress. She looks a wee bit overwhelmed and there’s no blaming her. Who knows how long it took her to get into the car?
