75 Times People Absolutely Failed In The Kitchen

Not everything we make in the kitchen turns out to be a masterpiece. Sometimes, it’s a little burnt around the edges. Sometimes, it’s even a little bland. No matter what, it’s usually still edible. Usually…not always.
Here are 75 times when getting takeaway food became the only option.
#1 The melted pan
It’s important to start with the right pan. It’s also important to avoid melting it.

#2 Eggplant with a knife side
They roasted the eggplant. That went well enough. It was the roasting of the knife next to it that probably shouldn’t have happened.

#3 A healthy smoothie
They had plans for living a little healthier. Those plans have been replaced with just grabbing whatever happens to still be in the fridge.

#4 Rice cooker cake
We didn’t know that you could make a cake in a rice cooker. After seeing this, we’re still not convinced.

#5 The tomato killer
The jar of tomato sauce just sort of exploded. Now, their kitchen looks like it belongs to a very messy serial killer.

#6 The hedgehog cake
She tried to make a hedgehog cake during quarantine. Even the yellow butterfly eyes couldn’t stop it from looking possessed.

#7 Dad’s grilled cheese
Dad didn’t cook a lot. Maybe it was because no one wanted to eat paper.

#8 Banana bread
This was supposed to be banana bread. We’re not sure exactly what went wrong. We just know that it went very wrong.

#9 Lemon tea
They decided to make lemon tea in the crockpot. It seemed good in theory. The reality was a little different.

#10 Baguettes
Baking bread can be hard. No one gets it right the first time. Don’t lose hope!

#11 Chocolate cupcakes
There are a million different ways to decorate cupcakes. There is no need to duplicate these chocolate “poo” creations.

#12 The pizza cutter
They went to use their brand-new pizza cutter for the first time, then this happened. It could have just been a coincidence, maybe.

#13 Cheese toast
Well, they used the right ingredients. The time and temperature might have been questionable.

#14 Cake
Something went wrong with the frosting. We highly recommend letting the cake cool completely before attempting to add the frosting. That might have helped.

#15 Restaurant oversight
It doesn’t just happen at home. This man found the plastic wrapper still on the cheese in the sandwich he ordered at a restaurant.

#16 Not chocolate waffles
These are waffles. They are not chocolate flavored. Also, no one is going to eat them.

#17 Not a good day
They wanted to make a sandwich. The entire loaf was working against them.

#18 Oatmeal cookies
These cookies turned out a little strange. We bet the batter was missing a key ingredient or two.

#19 Rice paper burrito
He was out of tortillas for making burritos, so he decided to get a little creative and use rice paper instead. The result did not look tempting at all.

#20 Extra crispy pizza
They left a frozen pizza in the oven for most of the day. This was what it looked like by the time they remembered it.

#21 Just keep trying
The bread on the left was their first attempt. The bread on the right was their attempt after realizing that the yeast they had used in the first loaf was no longer good. Improvement can happen!

#22 Brownies
These brownies can still be eaten, but who would want to? The best part is stuck entirely to the bottom of the pan.

#23 Boiled eggs
Did you know that boiled eggs explode when they run out of water? Well, now, you know.

#24 Blue Thai Chicken
She turned around for a minute, and her kid brother added blue dye to her chicken. He’s nineteen.

#25 Spaghetti
They just wanted to make some sauce for their spaghetti. The universe said no.

#26 Preheated cutting board
This cannot be repeated enough: check inside the oven before preheating it. The red plastic cutting board had no chance of survival at 400 degrees.

#27 Pepper abuse
So many things can go wrong when adding seasoning. Make sure the pepper grinder is closed, at least.

#28 Sugar syrup
Sugar has a way of burning very quickly. It’s essentially pure fuel. Never ever leave it unattended!

#29 Exploded pizza
This happened. Yes, it turns out that pizzas can explode.

#30 Cooked rice
Have you ever wondered if you could cook rice faster if you just doubled the temperature? This is your answer. You can. You just won’t be able to eat the result.

#31 Dessert
These do actually include chocolate. However, they lose some appeal when it comes to how they ended up looking when cooked.

#32 Cheesecake dots
They tried to make cute dots. Then, the dots spread until the cheesecake looked diseased. Not everything can turn out as planned.

#33 Banana bread
This banana bread turned out better than the previous one on the list. However, that didn’t stop it from attempting an escape.

#34 Flower pancakes
He tried to make flower pancakes for his wife during lockdown. They ended up looking more like corona cakes.

#35 A little too long
She meant to set the microwave to 75 seconds. Somehow, she managed to put it on 75 minutes instead. This was the only possible result.
Good luck getting that clean.

#36 Sweet potato
An air fryer can be both healthy and exciting to try cooking new things in. This sweet potato just shows that not everything should go in the air fryer.

#37 The slice
Normally, when slicing food, we stop at the plate. In this case, they stopped at the table.

#38 Turkey
It was her first Thanksgiving cooking a turkey. Let’s hope that the second Thanksgiving goes a little better. There’s always a chance to learn from mistakes.

#39 Boiled egg
They boiled an egg. Unfortunately, the yolk had already hatched an escape plan.

#40 The pot
They went to carry their pasta across the kitchen. The handle broke. They were okay, but the pasta didn’t make it.

#41 Bread
Accidents happen. At least it was just a spoon baked into the bread and not a pair of glasses.

#42 Wine making
A son took this photo after his dad tried to make wine. It probably would have been easier to just pick up a bottle at the store.

#43 Bread dough
They put their bread dough in the fridge overnight to rise. They were told it would occur slowly. This is the mess they woke up to.

#44 Jelly bun filling
There is nothing wrong with getting creative in the kitchen. Just know that not every experiment will come out as planned. Injecting the filling with a syringe seemed like a good idea until it resulted in jelly bun brains.

#45 Birthday cake
She really did try. It says so right on the cake.

#46 Not the right tools
Someone’s daughter decided to bake a pizza on a plastic cutting board. The house smelled like plastic for weeks after.

#47 Kitchen fire
If you ever think your cooking is bad, consider this first: Have you set the stove and ceiling on fire? If the answer is no, then your cooking isn’t nearly as bad as it can get.

#48 So close
So much work was put into preparing those skewers. If only they had made it as far as being cooked.

#49 Bread pudding
This poor bread pudding was forgotten at the back of the stove for several days. Now, he has a new life as a pet lava rock.

#50 Making macarons
Macarons are difficult even for trained pastry chefs. Don’t feel bad if your attempts look like this one.

#51 Peppered eggs
Cooking in the morning is hard. There are bound to be some accidents. This is the classic entire-pepper-shaker-on-an-egg morning mess up.

#52 Not so perfect poultry
This was the first time their sister-in-law cooked for them during the holidays. At least they got a laugh out of it. Let’s hope no one made their new family member feel bad about the mistake.

#53 Volcanic pizza
Overcooking something is one of those fatal kitchen mistakes. There isn’t much that you can do to save it after it’s been burnt to a crisp.

#54 Dangerous fruit
Have you ever worried about the tip of a knife breaking off in food? There’s no need to worry about something so small. It was the entire apple cutter this time.

#55 Not a baking sheet
That was a plastic sheet. This is what happens to plastic at high temperatures.

#56 NutriBullet nightmare
It’s called a bullet. That morning, it acted more like a bomb.

#57 With extra glass
Have you ever had one of those days when absolutely nothing goes right? It looks like they ended up having to order pizza.

#58 Creative pasta
They decided to try a new shape of pasta. It came out looking a little too much like maggots. At least this one was still edible!

#59 Interference
A bee stung his foot after these hotdogs were already on the grill. By the time he got back to them, this is what they looked like.

#60 The pie
They were trying to create a happy face. It does look happy. It also looks like a potential serial killer.

#61 Cherry cobbler
They tried to make an innocent cherry cobbler. It decided it wanted to eat souls.

#62 Overdone
If there is anything this slideshow has taught us, it’s to use an oven timer. Always use a timer!

#63 Patrick
Quarantine was hard. People had to make birthday cakes at home. Some may never get over that experience.

#64 Hedgehog cake
This was made for a child’s birthday party. That child may need therapy now.

#65 Grilled corn
Grilled corn can be amazing. Just be careful when it comes to the grilling time. Two hours might be way too long.

#66 Strawberry cats
It seemed like a great idea. Make cat cakes with cat-shaped pans, and then add some strawberry icing. The problem is that they ended up looking like burn victims once the icing was applied.

#67 Sourdough bread
This was sourdough bread baked with brie. They may have cooked it for a few hours too long.

#68 Peppered chicken
Pepper shaker lids are notorious for coming off. Hang on tight to that pepper top!

#69 Spring rolls
When cooked right, these are generally light, crispy, and not the color of coal. At least they can get Chinese takeaway to make up for the loss.

#70 Sink pasta
It has happened to nearly all of us at some point. No, all the pasta isn’t supposed to end up in the sink, and yet somehow, it still gets there.

#71 Long day
Cooking can be tiring. Just remember that it takes even longer if you don’t put the pan over the flame.

#72 Closing time
They were getting ready to end a long shift. This was not how it was supposed to go.

#73 Lasagna
They put so much effort into making that lasagna. It was ready to be served when this unfortunate spill occurred.

#74 Salted eggs
They switched brands of salt. Apparently, the cap on the new one was a little looser than on the old brand.

#75 Pizza
When done right, pizza is an absolute favorite. When done wrong, it’s just a pain to scrape off the bottom of the oven.

50 Photos Of The Funniest Quarantine Baking Fails

We all have different ways of dealing with perpetual boredom. One highly proactive way you can approach time in isolation is to pick up a new skill or hobby. A popular choice for people during this time is to pick up baking for the first time and expand their repertoire of kitchen skills.
The problem is…it’s not quite as easy as it seems. Enjoy, 50 slides of people’s quarantine baking fails. and DON’T get any ideas!
1) This bread got the chop!
Now it’s one thing to over-bake bread, but it’s another thing altogether to produce break that can withstand an axe chop. They should get hold of your recipe to make bullet-proof vests!
2) These rolls have got the distancing thing down!
Well it would seem like “overnight baking”, may not be the best way to get those soft tasty rolls you’re trying to bake, but if you want rock hard, pitch black golf balls instead, that’s how you do it! Similarly if you’re trying to demonstrate social distancing, that’s the way to go!
3) Well, she’s got the spirit, but she’s a bit confused
It’s all good and well using tray liners to bake your muffins. Problem is, you kind of need the try to line! Otherwise what do you get? Well, you get puffy muffin textured cookies…but at least they’re in liners!
[/imgsrc]
4) That’s lights-out for a lighthouse!
This native Floridian decided to honor her state by baking some commemorative “lighthouse” shaped cookies. Well, she may have set out to make lighthouse cookies, but I don’t think she ended up with lighthouse shaped cookies…These are a little more R rated…
5) Baking is not for everybody
Remember kids, if you’re baking for the first time, follow the instructions VERY carefully. Any number of things can go wrong for the unexperienced. Think of recipes as parachutes! Otherwise your scones, can become stones.
6) Is this how Oreos were invented?
Not sure if these are burnt to a crisp, or simply trying to fit in with the whole “activated charcoal” fad. something tells me however, it’s probably the former. Youch!
7) You can teach an old dog new tricks…
But can you teach an old bread maker to make new bread? No. You cannot, it would seem. You can try, but you may just end up with a pile of…whatever that is.
8) Mmmm, maybe baking isn’t for you…
I mean, look, if you want to bake scorched hockey pucks, I will not stand in your way. It’s hard to tell if these were originally made with oats, or if that’s just the texture you get when you roast cookies to within an inch of their life.
9) Well Tommy, you try it then!
You have to agree with him though, that is one pretty messy…whatever that is. But hey, fluffy sponge covered in sweet, sweet frosting. t may look messy, but looks like it still tastes pretty good!
10) Cookies can’t social distance
Once again, who dropped the ball on telling these cookies about social distancing! Common choc chips, flatten that curve! Instead these cookies are just a flat mess!
11) Well that should just be illegal
Some people love cilantro, some people hate it. Either way, this is a crime against taste buds. Even if you’re a devout fan of the common herb, there is no place for it in a chocolate chip cookie!
12) #bananadead
Now I don’t know a lot about banana bread, but I’m pretty sure it’s not supposed to be the same color and consistency as volcanic rock. I mean I have heard of lava cake, but I don’t think this is it.
13) When does it become just “one” cookie?
At what point does it stop being several cookies and just become one giant melded together cookie? And don’t get me wrong, there is nothing at all wrong with the idea of a giant cookie!
14) Looks like these cookies didn’t get the memo…
When cookies all meld together like this…do they technically just become one giant cookie? Either way, these cookies are officially breaching the social distancing instructions.
15) Banana bread or sinkhole?
As a fan of a nice fluffy, soft piece of banana bread this does hurt a little. Looks like this banana bread is little more sunken than I would otherwise like, but hey, banana bread is banana bread.
16) Mmm, tasty rocks…
They say the rolling stone gathers no moss, but when the roll is as hard as a stone, what then? It gathers no interest in someone eating it?
17) Now that’s being optimistic
As aforementioned, it’s best to take these little baking losses in your stride. Rather that just throw in the towel (along with the baking itself), you should walk away with a checklist of lessons learnt. Just like this guy did!
18) People are uniting over their blunders
In the eternal struggle of isolated citizens attempting banana bread, yet another casualty has inspired others. Under the hashtag, #Mysham, other bakers have been sharing their own baking mishaps.
19) Those poor bunnies…
It’s not just banana bread that’s getting a hared time right now, these poor baked bunnies aren’t exactly in great shape either. In fact, they actually seem a little miserable. In fact, if nobody told me those were bunnies I would think they’re some sort of ghost cookies.
20) And…this…thing…
What was supposed to be a braided chocolate circle (whatever that is…) ended up looking more like…well…I’ll let you decide what it looks like. It seems like this baker already has…
This was supposed to be a nice, neat, braided circle of chocolate, caramel, and banana filled chocolate yeast bread, but the strands all burst and it ended up looking like a pan of Sasquatch feces. Tasted ok, though 😀 pic.twitter.com/gRv9PmyUjn
— amanda hugandkiss nobody nearⓋ (@wendybyrdm) April 12, 2020
21) And it goes further than banana bread
I know that you CAN make bread out of potatoes, but I’ve never seen a loaf of bread BECOME one! In fact this disasterous loaf seems to even be growing roots. Hey, maybe before long they’ll be able to grow a whole plantation of loaves.
22) Some even throw their S.O.’s under the bus
Sometimes the shame isn’t even theirs! This guy’s poor girlfriend spent her time, sweat and effort baking him an isolation birthday cake, but I guess it didn’t quite work out so well. Well, it may be good if those are strawberries…but there’s a small chance that they’re tomatoes.
23) Puts the “pan” in “pandora’s box”
Typically cinnamon buns are, y’know…separate. Also they don’t usually amalgamate into this giant, heaving mess of cinnamon chaos. But…it may still taste good?
24) Not even microwave baking is safe
We’ve all seen the ol’ cake-in-a-cup trick, but sometimes it can go pretty wrong. One of the classic blunders that is just too easy to make, is putting way to much of the magic powder in the cup.
25) They say that baking is like chemistry…
…but that may not strictly be true. This baker and science maker is not all that successful in the techniques required to bake this…I guess cake?
This is why I’m a scientist. In case you were wondering this cake doesn’t taste good either. Think I’ll keep supporting local bakers and find a new quarantine hobby to try. #bakingfail pic.twitter.com/v0EOkwfoq1
— Shelby (@wxcastershelby) April 12, 2020
26) Great if you want to bake yourself a golf-ball holder..
If you’re trying to bake cupcakes however, this may not be the result you’re after. Plus, aren’t cupcakes usually in, like, cups? In fact, whatever this baking is, sort of became the cups.
27) This loaf was a bit of a reach
So desperate was this loaf to escape its fate, that it appears to even have been reaching for a way out. Stay strong, strange loaf, maybe one day you will be free of this world!
28) another…reaching attempt
Here’s another loaf of bread that seems to just be happy hanging out. Not sure what it is that this loaf expects to grab at, but hopefully the next time around this baker may have more success.
29) Cake news…
I mean… your kid knows what a cake is right? At least some of these turned out OK, not sure about those ones on the edge though. I guess at least some of them were worthy of icing.
30) Is there such a thing as a cake exorcist?
I mean, I’m not here to judge. But also, I am. To be honest, this cake looks like it still tastes pretty good, even if it looks a little ghastly. The good news is, a one year old probably won’t discriminate between a pretty cake and an ugly one so long as it is loaded with sugar.
31) Send those macarons back!
I guess as it turns out, homemade almond flour isn’t ideal for making these (usually) delectable treats. They’re usually soft, which a slightly crunchy outer. These however, seem to be hard, with a hard outer, not to mention charred to a cinder. I’m no macaron expert but I’m sure that’s not how it was meant to go.
32) It’scone badly
I’m pretty sure there’s supposed to be a difference between scones and cookies. And I’m pretty sure it’s not just that one of them can’t be mispronounced. I won’t even get started on the whole cookies vs biscuits debate…although if I were, I would point out that a biscuit is something that you dip in your tea…so it has been and so it shall always be. Wot wot!
33) How do you burn something without even burning it?
According to this tweeter, they somehow managed to create these black-as-night banana bread muffins, but without actually burning them. They point to the colour being caused by some other sort of drastic chemical reaction, which I do have to call BS on. I’m no baker and so I know a burnt muffin when I see one!
34) Somewhere over a horrendous mess
What delightful little cookies (biscuits) this person set out to bake. What they got however, seems like more of a surrealist painter’s nightmare, put on a baking tray and shoved into the oven at 350 degrees for five minutes too long.
35) Well I’ve heard of lava cake…
But I’ve never seen it actually molten! Did somebody try actually scooping lava from the earth’s mantle, then dust it with frosting just to throw it back in the oven for another hour? Not going to lie, a little curious about how it tastes…
36) This funny bunny
This ambitious baker set out to make an adorable bunny cookie. Instead, what they ended up with was some sort of grotesque, molten horror-rabbit. Just going to say though- still looks delicious.
37) Silly Rabbit
Well, they got the ears and eye-holes right, but the shape…not so much. Instead of cute little round bun-nies, they ended up with these messes which seem to have amalgamated somewhat, just to be broken into square rabbits.
38) Fail? OR prevail?
While this person didn’t quite get what they set out for, but by the sounds of it, it kind of worked out in the end! I’ve certainly never heard of using wild yeast from dried fruit to make bread, but hey, maybe I’ll try it for my failed baking attempt!
39) What is it with the bunnies?
I guess that following Easter, everybody was in a rabbit state of mind, but maybe they should have looked a bit closer at those recipes. To be fair, this rabbit actually just looks jacked! That’s a gym bunny for sure.
40) Oh the horror…
What fresh nightmare is this disastrous creation? What little bakery of horrors could produce such a hideous mess? I will say what I’ve been saying this whole time though- I bet that is still as sweet and chocolaty as if it were immaculate.
41) Pretzels have seen better days
The MUTANT pretzels went a little wrong when they went from being wonderful little bread knots to…whatever those folded lumps are. I can’t tell if those are salted, but, is this person eating them with Nutella? Is that normal? Am I missing something?
42) This terrifying cookie
It’s hard to feel good about your baking skills when your pug seems to be shaken to the very core by a mere cookie. Usually dogsa re all to ready to take any treat in front of them, but this pup is petrified.
43) This custard tart turned to…custard?
Either something went wrong with this recipe, or there is something evil in that oven because something is strange in this neighbourhood. Somehow the eggs in this custard have rebelled and spilled out into a separate omelette alongside. I guess there’s nothing wring with a bonus omelette.

44) Actually kind of cute
Y’know, I’m not even 100% sure that this is even technically a fail being rather cute in a way. I mean, that is a “face” in the loosest possible definition of the word, but still! How much is that doggy?
45)Well, at least this guy has the spirit!
The important thing is that when you mess up horrendously in the kitchen over this period, you learn from your mistakes and try again. Before that though, just follow the damn recipe!
46) Nothing better to do?
While this is certainly tame as far as these fails go, I’m sure it’s not quite up to scratch for this quarantine baker. I don’t know, I feel like with a hefty dollop of cream and cup o’ tea, this would be pretty delightful!
47) Not as it appears
It seems like this video is just like Vin Diesel. Hard on the outside, but soft and sweet on the inside. Unlike Vin Diesel however, this break is probably not ready, and probably wouldn’t be cast in The Chronicles of Riddick. Probably.
48) A flop of glop
Well it seems like many things went wrong with this, a perfect storm of missing ingredients, faulty equipment, and gloopy consistency. Better luck next time! Given that we’re all quarantined, that could be literally any time!
49) Upside down cake, upside down?
Well I’ve heard of upside down cake, but don’t you need to turn it upside down first. And if this isn’t upside down cake, then why does it…appear to be upside down?
50) *Baguettes
Well, that’s also not how you spell focaccia, but I’m just going to let that one slide! You know what else is sliding? This sloppy, melty dough. Sorry, I meant “D’oh!”

50 Catastrophic Cooking Fails No One Ever Wants To Come Home To

Ever had a bad day in the kitchen? You are in good company with these crazy kitchen blunders. Some of them are almost too crazy to believe, these epic mishaps will surprise anyone!
Here are 50 kitchen catastrophes. They are hard-core and hard-to-believe, but so, so, funny. From kitchen explosions to missed attempts at baking masterpieces, these pics will make you chuckle—or straight out laugh.
I hope these photos will help us all laugh a little more at our own mistakes and not take things so seriously in the dinner department. A big thanks to all the cooks who shared and let us know that on our bad cooking days we aren’t alone, who gave us this opportunity to share the love with our friends and family!
1) The Zombie Roll Apocalypse, Coming To a Dinner Table Near You
I’m just going to come out and say it—are those rolls vomiting? What a scary thing to come home to, unless it’s Halloween. If that’s the case, then these spewing faces might be just what the kids ordered. Kudos to the cook who made them, this picture made my day with a good laugh. Thanks for sharing!

2) RIP, Cutting Board
On one hand, it’s nice to be left a note by your spouse or partner. On the other hand, now you have to replace a cutting board and an electric burner. At the end of the day though, it’s nice to know that you’re loved.

3) 1 Minute Wonder
I love sushi but don’t have the stomach (literally) to try making it. This though, I could handle!
“Sushi Chef Level: Beginner”

4) Watch Out—Exploding Chickens!
This could be an ad for Birds’n’Blocks. In the game, the birds are stuck and can’t fly because of their small wings. This is a true testament to the power of yeast…and of baking in small pans.

5) Alien Invaders!
These eggs are out of this world! I know a couple of ten-year-olds who would be delighted with this kind of after school snack invasion. I still can’t believe the eggs fell just in the right spot to make that perfect slit of a creepy alien mouth!!

6) So Apparently, Anything Is Possible In the Kitchen
According to the cook, this is caramel. It looks like Frodo took the pan and scooped up some of the fires of Mount Doom! Good thing this didn’t happen in a small space, can you imagine coming home to a volcano?
“I forgot I was making caramel at work. It’s a tad overcooked.”

7) Missing Glasses, Or Missing Baker?
This loaf of bread is a little spooky! It looks like something straight out of the Harry Potter series. I can just imagine Dumbledore having a bad day, and teaching this badly behaved baker a lesson!

8) Demon Baby Meatloaf
Not that I advocate for babies being mistaken as or associated with demons, but this creation is just too creepy to call it anything else. What’s up with the eyes, is that where the fat leaked out! Aaahhhh!

9) A Sure-Fire Way To Run Up the Electric Bill
It’s hard to believe this started out as something edible! These look like pieces of charcoal, ready to be lit to cook food on—not the product of already cooked food. Oh well, that’s what the drive-through is for!
“RIP my electric bill”

10) Popcorn Ceiling + Hot Stove + Angry Spaghetti
Woah, how is this possible? Have heard of InstaPots exploding, but this lid looks like it’s from a regular old saucepan. This is crazy, I have never seen anything like this. I am chalking it up to a very hot stove and a very soft ceiling!

11) “Nuclear lunch detected”— AlyoshaV
This pizza looks like an inverted mushroom cloud. Were those veggie toppings? I think I see some olives in there. This is when you hope it’s a self-cleaning oven.

12) It’s alive. It’s alive…IT’S ALIVE! — Frankenstien (1931)
Maybe it’s the Bride of Frankenstein’s iconic hair that triggered this headline. I can just see the pot growing legs and walking. This person had a more practical idea:
“Maybe we should buy a rice cooker.”

13) Forget Worrying About a Grease Fire…
Oh, this is scary! I know I wouldn’t want to come home to that… talk about taking “worrying about the house while you’re at work” to a whole new level! Really though, easy mistake. Turn the gas stove on too high, the flame gets too big, and poof. Pasta fire.
“This is why I don’t cook.”

14) Don’t Worry, It’ll Still Taste Good…
It looks like Sponge Bob got a little soggy in the ocean there. I think we can all agree to blame Squidward. Regardless, this baker has an excellent sense of humor.
“Happy birthday!”

15) Science Experiment Gone Dinner
There have got to be some interesting chemicals floating around that kitchen from all the burned plastic! I have also mistaken those weird plastic plans for glass, well almost. Watch out!
“I thought it was glass”

16) When Chickens Don’t Want To Be Fried
Umm… normally I am all about developing new talents and creative skills like cooking, but we might need to find a new aspiration for this chef. That is a seriously burnt kitchen. I think it’s safe to say the flavor of these wings turned out “fire” hot!
“First time trying to fry buffalo wings. I think it went pretty well.”

17) How Are These Hotdogs?
This looks like some kind of foreign alien life specimen from Doctor Who. Next thing you know, it they will try mind control on you and start to move! This photo really makes you think twice about eating those things.
“My wife steamed hotdogs.”

18) At Least This Was A First Attempt
I call this the “Rupunzel got a bad haircut” dish. Yum! It’s puzzling how the pasta seems cooked, but somehow is so stuck to the bottom of the pan?
“one of my roommates tried to make pasta one night … first attempt = FAIL”

19) This Looks Like a Legit “Nailed It”
I’d like to think that all the Gatsby characters would be delighted to have some cake, but I have a feeling that Jay Gatsby’s hopes would be dashed. I, however, would be happy to have this cake any day, it’s an American classic!

20) College—The Good Old Days
There is nothing as great as recounting fond memories of middle-of-the-night ice cream runs, having a heated discussion with your co-workers about what did and did not qualify as food in those days…good times. Excellent news for these students though, I saw some pans at the dollar store last week!
“Cooking in college”

21) Saddest Sticky Notes Ever
I am not sure whether to laugh or cry. Who left the note—the baker or the boyfriend?
“Boyfriend had big deadline. I tried to help. I failed.”

22) Can We Just Throw a Sheet Over This and Pretend It Didn’t Happen?
I don’t know about you, but I would be on the phone, VERY UPSET with whoever installed those cabinets. I swear, it wasn’t me, it was the cabinets! This looks like a serious pizza night. And ice cream. And wine.

23) Real Life Coal Christmas Cookies
Reserved for bad little boys, bad little girls, and bad little kids! Actually, this mom was just preoccupied with taking care of her sweet kids. Look at these cute little cut-outs, they would have been great! It happens to the best of us.
“I got distracted! Can’t imagine why with 2 kids!”

24) Dad’s Are Great, Aren’t They?
Really though, they are. I can just imagine this sweet dad looking our for his kids, wanting to make their day. Don’t worry, you’ll get it next time!
“Had to post this. My friend’s husband wanted to make Gingerbread cookies for his kids…he didn’t know he was supposed to remove the cookie cutters before baking! Love it!”

25) Rainbow Mac and Cheese, or Radioactive Pasta and Shells?
I am not really sure what to say here. My inner child really wants to love this. Like, really wants to love this. After all, it’s a rainbow and it’s macaroni and cheese. I just don’t know if I can make the stretch here!
“Girlfriend sent me a pic of her family’s dinner- rainbow Mac and cheese”

26) Mac and Cheese Cake Anyone?
I always try to salvage macaroni and cheese mistakes. Maybe frost it like a pretend cake? I’m not sure a save will work in this case!
“So I asked my girlfriend to cook macaroni and cheese last night…”
Hey, just be thankful that she cooked! Or attempted…

27) In Case You’ve Ever Thought About Baking Some Ben & Jerry’s
This one kind of speaks for itself.
“Came home to my fiance cooking the cookie dough out of our ice cream..”

28) You Can’t Fight the Yeast
Sometimes I actually wish I could get this kind of rise out of my homemade whole grain bread. This must contain some serious yeast! Look on the bright side, it’s kind of like two loaves instead of just one?

29) Boom Choco Laka Laka
It’s probably already a bad day if a jar of chocolate is being microwaved. Or, maybe that dang metal lid just wouldn’t come off. Either way, this looks like a bad explosion. Turn down the tears, turn on some Boom Face, and turn up the dance moves!

30) Thanksgiving Has Gone To DEFCON 1. I Repeat, DEFCON 1, People!
Can you imagine! I’m not sure if I can tell how this even happened. Is that a log in the oven? This kitchen just went nuclear. I am going to imagine a supportive spouse or partner rubbing the feet of whatever cook experienced this. Take heart brave chef, the turkey and mashed potatoes don’t look radioactive!

31) So, Are You Going To Tell Me What Happened? Or…
That will give you a heart attack. Ether way, come home to this, I feel some heart palpitations. I am cooking and this happened, I feel some heart palpitations. I mean, what actually happened here? It’s all been left to the imagination since the cook cleaned up the burned mess!

32) Tombstone Reads: Grabbed Camera Instead Of Fire Extinguisher
I never thought toaster fires were actually a real thing until I saw this photo. If this happened to me, I would be seriously disappointed—I love toast. I do think it says something about the times though, that’s it’s a grab for the camera before the extinguisher.

33) I Know It Was A Hard Day, But We Can’t Eat Those For Dinner
So, this isn’t the Keto diet…not Atkins, not low carb, not the raw diet, definitely not a cleanse… Only the cook knows where this idea came from!

34) Dinner With A Spooky Halloween Treat!
A frightening fog machine? A humungous humidifier? Some serious steam? According to this Imstagram-mer, it’s accidental dry ice in the sink! Add a couple of decorations, some costumes, and candy, and October 31st is all ready to go.

35) Coke Explosion! Because I Can…’t
What a let down. Who put on Reddit that you could make self-freezing coke slushies? That’s just mean. I admit I would have wanted to give it a go, it just sounds so promising!
“Reddit suggested how to make “Self Freezing Slushies”. Tried it, heard a loud ‘bang’ in the kitchen and came to find this . . .”

36) Smoothy Or Face Mask?
So you’ve been out all day, running errands, and haven’t cracked open that yummy homemade smoothy you took out with you that morning. Won’t make that mistake twice!
“It’s risky to travel with #kefir smoothies, because they continue to ferment when not refrigerated. When I popped the top off of my thermos: BANG!!!”

37) Mood Lighting, She Was Trying To Get Him To Take Her Out
The post said:
“How to get out of cooking dinner”
Yep, that’ll do it.
* If it’s a grease fire, remember, water won’t work!

38) C’est La Fin Des Haricots
That is a french saying that translates as: “it’s the end of beans”. Enjoy this wonderfully French plated refried bean tower, complete with garnish and reduction sauce. Note the chef, I’m impressed! I usually only get a half a can of the beans out intact.
“Canned refried bean stack avec tacobell Fire reduction, fresh summer dwarf basil greens”

39) Surrender To the Squash
That would seem like a good idea, to quickly microwave the vegetable. No matter how promising an appliance, spaghetti squash is not to be trifled with. Lesson learned.
“Well crap… That didn’t go as planned.”

40) Thank Goodness This Wasn’t Thanksgiving
That’s a big bird. I think it was a little too plump for the glass pan? What a bummer to have to toss out the whole thing, on account of the glass. I hope whoever was coming home that night was bringing dinner!

41) And Today’s Special Is…
Here we have a special delicacy. A premium grade, whole grain bread bowl, with tasty and delectable tomato soup. A bright and filling note to your humdrum day. Topped with strings of shredded cheese.
“Homemade soup in a bread bowl”

42) We All Have Questionable Ideas Sometimes…
Well…it’s clear that we have some Cheerios, some canned green beans, and I am going to guess this dish also includes the trusted casserole staple—cream of mushroom soup. I would seriously put some salt on that.
“Roommate made this mysterious “casserole” last night.”

43) What If That Thing Above the Stove Blows Up?
Not sure exactly what happened here. But yeah, they’re probably not getting the security deposit back.
“Cooking level: not getting the security deposit back”

44) Is This Still Drinkable? (You Know You Were Thinking It Too)
I haven’t been pregnant (yet, hopefully), but it looks like I have a lot to look forward to! Is this a common problem? The only product I know of that is strong enough to do that, is a Vitamix. That blender part was Vita-split!
“#blenderfail…#caniblameitonpregnancybrain”

45) It Looks Like We Will Be Getting Some Snow
Well, here, you’ll see that this meringue has exploded. Don’t tell Paul Hollywood or Mary Berry. It looks like The British Baking Show is down another potential contestant.

46) Bring On the Bubbly! Oh, Wait…
Tonight on the menu we have:
“Raw ground beef, infused with frozen champagne and shards.”
This will put a damper on your celebration plans! That plan to turn champagne into a lovely chilled treat has failed—yet again.

47) French Fries and Chicken Nuggets Turn To Coal, and Then Eventually To Diamonds
I think we’ll let McDonald’s handle this one. Let’s just pretend this never happened. This is a very wise quote indeed.
“Man created takeaways for a reason”

48) I Hate It When Glass Pans Refuse To Cooperate
This is all you need after a long day! I hope someone swoops in and cleans this up for this cook. And then treats them to a nice dinner!
“Not looking forward to cleaning that up!”

49) Pizza and Fish Sticks Anyone?
Well, it was already a pizza and fish sticks kind of night, and then this happened. If your frozen foods don’t work out, there is always delivery.
“cooking skills level: expert ✓ (pizza and fish sticks)”

50) Gross.
Don’t fret, this is not spit-up, throw-up, or any other kind of ick. Just:
“New England style Clam Chowder.”
It’s just unfortunate that this happened on brown carpet. Another testament to soups needing to be kept at the table.
