Makeup Artist Shares 50+ Makeup Tips To Make Your Routine Easier, Cheaper, And More Effective

Makeup is expensive and whether you’re open to experimenting or you’ve found your routine for life, it’s good to know that you have options to try or ways to get the most out of your favorite products.
Here, we’ve collected some gems you may not have seen or thought of – maybe it’s time to experiment!
Of course, not everyone is into a red pout or perfectly curled lashes – and that’s ok! We’ve also snuck in a few au naturel tricks for hydrating your skin in summer or making sure you lock in moisture in winter (even in places like lashes, which really do get dry!).
But if you’re a fan of color and coverup and contour, we have some great tricks to try at home to make your routine easier, cheaper, and more fun.
1. Keep your lipstick on your lips
From lipstick stains on cups to smears and feathering caused by eating and drinking, it’s hard to get your lipstick to stay in place throughout the day. But here’s one hack you’ve probably never thought of:
If you mix food coloring (let’s say red) together with a peel-off face mask (or even PVA glue – it’s safe!) and apply it carefully to your lips. Once it’s dry, you can peel it off and it leaves a stain behind that will stay in place all day but come off your a good makeup remover at night!
Check out Bustle’s tutorial here.
We promise this is less weird than it sounds. In fact, companies even make peel-off lipsticks – check out the #peelofflipstick hashtag on Instagram if you don’t believe us!

2. DIY brow stencil
If you fill in your brows, you know what a pain it is to get them to match. (No? Just me?)Maybe you’ve tried stencils you can buy in the store, but none of them match the shape of your face perfectly. (No, just me AGAIN?)
Well, now you can make your own!
Using a marker, an X-Acto knife, and some transparency film (or any firm plastic that you can cut!), you just need to draw on your desired shape, cut it out, and it’s good to use over and over again!
The beauty of this trick if you can try it over and over again until you get it right – maybe during one of your self-care evenings when you’re watching binge-watching Netflix or even a girl’s night (just finish up with the sharp implements before you pour your second glass of wine!).
There’s a tutorial available from The Makeup Files here if you want some more guidance.

3. Apply mascara with your lash curler in place
There are lots of lash hacks out there because long, lush lashes are one of the best ways to look wide awake and put together in a matter of minutes. But those of us not wanting the maintenance of lash extensions or other false lashes need some help.
One major problem for those of us with straight lashes is getting them to stay curled throughout the day. It doesn’t matter how long your lashes are if they stick out straight!
The makeup gurus at Cosmopolitan Magazine have a ton of lash hacks, but our favorite is to apply your first coat of mascara while your lashes are in your eyelash curler. That will help them hold the curl in place (but will require you to rinse it off after each application).
Genius!

4. Clean brushes with a strainer
If you’re getting breakouts for no good reason, the culprit could be the gunk that builds up in your makeup brushes, especially if you use them throughout the day on a dirty face (and who doesn’t need n mid-afternoon touch-up on oily skin?)
While brush sprays promise to get them clean with minimal effort, that’s rarely the case, especially on big, poofy brushes where bacteria have lots of places to hide.
If it’s time to clean your brushes (and c’mon, you know it is), you can simply use antibacterial soap, but it’s also wise to invest in a cheap little strainer that allows you to really agitate those bristles. The strainer allows some to poke through and really scrubs them off.
See here for a run-down of the process and how well it works.

5. Perfect your winged eyeliner with tape
Perfecting the cat eye or winged eyeliner trick requires a lot of practice and skill – and frankly, some people never manage to do it freehand (so you’re not alone if you don’t have it down yet)!
Next time you want to go for a dramatic look, try using tape as a guide – it doesn’t even have to be fancy tape. There’s no need to wing it when you have an easy tool in a nearby drawer!

6. Use olive oil to remove makeup in a pinch
Did you decide to try some dramatic makeup and run out of makeup remover on the same night? Don’t go to bed with that stuff still on your face!
Simply head to the kitchen and grab your olive oil.
Dab some on a cotton pad and watch your eye makeup (or any other makeup for that matter) slide right off.
Many makeup removers are oil-based, which makes makeup melt away, so it’s a cheap easy trick to try when you can’t head to the store right away.
Check out Beauty Something for other olive oil hacks as well.

7. Create instant eyelids
Ever try a new eyeshadow only to have it end up right under your brow because your eyelids aren’t big enough?
Frankly, it’s not a problem that needs fixing unless it bothers you, but a simple trick can save you the pain of the plastic surgery thousands of people undergo every year to get a bigger lid.
You can use a small piece of clear tape or a product like Instant Eye Lift to put a clear boundary between your lower and upper lids. It may not be the most comfortable option, but if you’re dying to try a smoky eye, this could be just the thing you need!

8. Contour your nose with tweezers
One Instagrammar found a genius way to apply initial contour lines to her nose by using tweezers.
Simply run the instrument through your dark contouring powder, and run it down your nose. Then blend it out for a perfectly even look.
Her tutorial can be found here (she does her brows first – another great hack – so the nose trick is halfway through).

9. Q-Tip your lipstick
No matter how good your lipstick applicator is, the corners if your mouth can still be tough to get right.
One way to avoid coloring outside the lines is to bite down on a Q-Tip as you apply your lip color. This keeps you from getting too far into the crease and getting those little clown lines in the corner of your mouth that only feather out throughout the day.

10. Hack your makeup brush
Haven’t invested in a full set of makeup brushes? It’s no wonder – they get expensive!
But sometimes you just need the smooth application of a contour brush. If that’s the case and you’ve just invested in a blush or kabuki brush (the most popular types), try using a bobby pin to create a new shape temporarily.

11. Double the life of your foundation
It’s so frustrating to get towards the end of a bottle of foundation or concealer and not be able to get the last bits out.
On days when you just need some light coverage, try adding a facial moisturizer to your concealer bottle, shaking it up, and creating your own tinted moisturizer!
It won’t pack quite the punch of your original foundation, but there are plenty of times you don’t need all that coverage. You could even use sunscreen instead for a day at the beach and some SPF protection!

12. Beet juice lipstick
If you’ve ever cooked with beets, you know those things will stain your whole life. Well, now you can put the stain where you want it by creating your own beet-colored lip stain!
Follow this tutorial that involves heating the beet juice and adding beeswax and glycerin, then enjoy a lip stain that stays in place all day.

13. DIY cooling spray
Love the idea of a pretty spray bottle to freshen you up in the middle of the day but don’t feel like investing in yet another pricey item?
1/4 cup of witch hazel combined with 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel and a few drops of essential oils makes for a great and super-cheap DIY substitute at a fraction of the cost.
For the oils, use scents like peppermint to pep you up during the day and lavender to chill you out at night.

14. Fix broken lipstick
It’s so annoying when you twist your lipstick a little too hard and end up breaking it off. But you never have to throw away good lipstick again!
Instead, repair it by smoothing out the broken edges of both pieces, then using a match or a lighter to heat the lipstick remaining in the tube and (carefully!) the base of the broken off piece, then twist them back together, heat the seams, and voila! All fixed!
You can see a video of the maneuver here.

15. Condition your lashes with Vaseline
Vaseline is a great way to keep chapped skin moisturized, but you can also use it to keep your lashes healthy too.
While there’s no evidence that petroleum jelly will help your lashes grow longer (though some people swear by it), it can help them appear longer and plumper, especially on no makeup days. And it can also help them stay in place if they like to go wonky.
Buy a separate spoolie to give it a try!

16. Contour your lips with liner
Make your lips look plumper naturally by using a lip liner to contour them.
Start by marking your cupid’s bow with an “X,” then line your bottom lip and add lines as shown in the photo. Not only will this give you a more precocious pout, but it’ll also keep you from getting the dreaded lip line all around your lips if your lipstick wears off.

17. Revive your liquid liner
Have you ever run out of liquid liner halfway through your makeup routine or noticed it drying up at just the wrong time?
It turns out you haven’t been using all the product inside all these years!
Grab some tweezers and pull the liner tip out of the tube. Turn it around and reinsert. The other side should still have some product and be ready to go until you can get to the store to buy a new one (and you can whittle it down with a blade if it doesn’t have a tip).
If that’s not a possibility, simply soak it in some warm water for a few minutes and see if you can get one more use of out of it. There’s more information here.

18. Get the most out of your lipstick
Are you annoyed by how much makeup product is left in the tube or container but hard to get out? When it comes to a tube of lipstick, it’s always good to have a little jar or contact lens case nearby to store extra.
Just take a Q-tip or other implement, scoop out every last bit from the original packaging, and store it in a different container. You’ll need to dab it on with your finger or a lipstick brush, but there’s probably at least a few days or a week left of lipstick in there that you would have otherwise thrown away!
You can also recycle old containers from samples if you want to be really sustainable!

19. Use a straw to dig out the last of your foundation or concealer
You get so much more bang for your buck when you scrape out your makeup tubes instead of tossing them away when the pump stops spitting out product.
A great trick for getting that last of your investment out of the bottom of a foundation or moisturizer bottle is to cut the bottom of a straw in half lengthwise and use it to scrape all around the inside of the tube.
There’s a video here if you want to see it in action.

20. Prep your eyelash curler so it lines while curling
Running some liquid liner over the top of your eyelash curler will deposit liner right where you need it.
You might have to practice a few times before you get the hang of it, so don’t do it for the first time when you need to rush out the door.
But once you have this trick down, it’ll save you plenty of time! See instructions here.

21. Heat your eyelash curler
Be careful with this one because you don’t want to burn your delicate eyelid!
But if you heat up your eyelash curler with your blowdryer (or even some hot water) right before curling your lashes, the heat will make the curl stay longer.
Just make sure you touch it with your finger before putting it anywhere near your eye. You want it warm, not hot!

22. Repair your compact with rubbing alcohol
Don’t trash your compact powder just because you dropped it. First of all, if you have a big brush and the right container, you can always crush it up further and turn it into loose powder.
But if you need to keep it in your handbag or use a pad to or puff to apply it, then simply gather up the pieces in the original container, crush them up completely, then add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the compact, and let it soak in.
Then, use the back of a spoon to rub and smooth down the makeup back into its original shape and let dry.
Specific instructions are here.

23. Lay off the lash glue by using a bobby pin
If you love your false lashes or have a special event when you need a bit more oompf, make sure you’re careful about how you apply your lash glue.
Applying it straight from the tube often results in too much glue getting on the lashes and if you’ve ever experienced that sticky nightmare, you certainly don’t want to repeat it.
Instead, apply glue from the tube onto a bobby pin, which you can then drag across the edge. This helps you apply less glue more evenly and avoiding pasty looking eyelids.

24. Avoid lipstick teeth with the finger trick
Bold lipsticks are in, but it’s so embarrassing to head to the bathroom only to discover you’ve had some on your teeth all night.
The best way to avoid this is to get off some of the lipstick that gets on your inner lip during application.
After you apply your lipstick, simply stick your clean finger in your mouth, purse your lips lightly, and pull it out. That’ll get off the excess lipstick from the inside of your lips that would normally end up on your teeth.

25. Make your mascara last longer
It’s a good idea to replace mascara every three months to avoid bacteria growth that can cause eye infections.
But if you find your product drying up before it’s time, the best way to extend its life is to add a few drops of saline contact solution to the tube and shake it up.
It’s just the right texture to bring your mascara back to life. But add only a little at a time to avoid creating runny mascara!

26. Seal in your lip color with powder
A tried and true trick to getting lip color to stay longer involves simply taking a tissue or square of toilet paper (shake it out first to get rid of that “dust”) to your freshly painted lips and then dusting over it with some setting powder.
This seals in a bottom layer of color that should stay in place throughout the day.
You can then add a bit more color or a gloss to get back that shine – unless you were going for a matte look to begin with.

27. Don’t let hot showers dry out your skin
It’s not the sexiest look, but if you slap on a face mask during your shower, especially in winter when you might need a warm one, you can protect the sensitive skin in your face from getting dried out.
While you might think shower humidity is enough to keep your skin supple, hot showers often do result in dry flaky skin.

28. Use concealer to tidy up lipstick
Did you color outside the lines on the last step of your makeup routine?
It happens to the best of us.
If you’re not keen on the idea of getting out the makeup remover and possibly taking off some of your foundation along with a lipstick smear, you might just reach for a small brush and some concealer to tidy up those lip lines.
If you’re using a liquid lipstick, try dabbing it first and then waiting for it to dry before covering it up, lest you smear it even more.

29. Use baby powder on lashes to make them look plumper
A layer of baby powder in between coats of mascara is a tried and true way to add a plumping layer to thin lashes.
Just be careful to apply a little at a time and really separate those lashes so you don’t end up with cakey clumps or mascara that flakes off.

30. Color correct using red and green
If you’ve ever seen a professional color correcting palatte, you’ve probably noticed some colors that you wouldn’t dream of putting on your face, like orangey-red or green.
But color correction is all about applying colors on the opposite ends of the color wheel to neutralize skin tone.
That means green will cover up red blemishes and an orangey tone will help you cover up the dark circles under your eyes. Just remember that you’ll have to blend it all out so you don’t end up looking like a Christmas tree!

31. Clean small brushes with bar soap
Your little brushes can get an easy weekly clean if you just take the time to wet them and scrub them over some bar soap at night when you wash your face.
Give them the night to dry and you’ve got a bacteria-free brush ready to go in the morning!

32. Make your liquid liner more liquid
This trick works for a tube of liquid liner (the kind that comes with a brush) or mascara.
If you notice your product drying out and it’s not yet time to replace it, consider dunking the tube in a cup of warm water before applying it. This will make it glide on easier.

33. Double the life of your makeup sponges
Some makeup sponges are larger than they need to be. By simply cutting them in half not only do you have better control over their blending abilities, but you also create a second back-up blender.
You can even revive an older blender but cutting it in half and using the newly exposed inside to do your blending.

34. Turn a pencil liner into liquid liner
Pencil liners are great because they give you a nice thin line, but they can also be tough on your delicate eyelids.
Instead of stabbing yourself with a sharp pencil, try heating it up with a match or lighter first (just for a few seconds) and watch it go on smooth without that unpleasant poking feeling.

35. Make your eyes pop with highlighter
Depending on your skin color, you can find a light highlighter crayon to line the area in the corner of your eye and under your brows to make your eyes pop.
Just make sure to blend it in or apply lightly.

36. Keep those blenders clean
Those little plastic Easter eggs come in handy all year round to store your beauty blenders!
Don’t simply stick them in your makeup drawer where they can get all sort of gunk on them that you don’t want to rub into your face later. Store them somewhere airtight and be sure to rinse them out every now and then too to avoid breakouts.

37. Check your lighting
Did you ever think your makeup looked great only to catch your reflection in a mirror later under different light and wonder what went wrong?
Double-check your makeup job in either natural light or with your phone flashlight before heading out the door. This will let you know if there are any areas you didn’t blend properly or missed altogether so you don’t get any surprises later.

38. Use eyeshadow to cover thinning hair
If you’ve pulled your hair back into the perfect ponytail or finally gotten your updo just right only to notice that you can see some scalp, there’s an easy trick to cover it up and make your hair look fuller.
Simply grab an eyeshadow in the brown or auburn family (depending on your hair color) and use a brush to dab it over the area.
This won’t solve all thinning hair problems, but it’s a great trick when you need some quick coverage.

39. Keep your active ingredients active
While you don’t need to refrigerate all of your skin care products (unless your bathroom gets really hot and humid), there are some that benefit from a bit of cold to keep active ingredients active.
Refrigerating natural products is a good idea as well since those tend to actual spoil (think products from lines like Juice Beauty).
Finally, refrigerating things like eye creams might be a good idea since the extra cooling sensation can help reduce any puffiness you may experience first thing in the morning.
Just make sure you keep those lids tight if you’re going to put your cosmetics near your food!

40. Protect your hairline in summer
The last place you want a sunburn is on your scalp, so next time you’re shopping for cosmetics, you might want to grab some powdered sunscreen for your hairline, especially if you’re a fan of a severe hair part.
If you have dark hair, mix in some eyeshadow to tint it the right color before you apply.

41. Know how to layer your skin care
If you like to collect skin care products, it’s important to know how to layer them for optimal effect.
Basically, you want to go from thinnest to thickest, applying things like liquid toners, then thicker serums before applying your moisturizer, which tends to be creamy.
And you should wait a few minutes between layers to give them a chance to sink in.

42. Apply outwards
If you want your face to look fresh and lifted, apply products like foundations and powders outward and upward.
This will give you a lifted look instead of allowing product to gather and sink into the lines in the middle of your face.

43. Keep track of your expiration dates
It’s easy to lose track of how old products are, especially if you have a big collection.
But not only do active ingredients expire, but old products also tend to accumulate bacteria, especially if they have applicators that you stick back in the tube after each use. Even products that you touch with your fingers every day can be a bit gross after a few months unless you’re diligent about cleaning them.
While some products have an expiration date on the tube, it’s often hard to see. Others simply print it on the box that you throw away immediately. And some don’t give you much info at all, so you may just want to write the date you purchased it on the tube.
It’s a great trick for making quick decisions when it’s time to clean out your makeup cabinet.

44. Use a spoon to get your eyeshadow perfect
We’ve heard of using cold spoons under your eyes to get rid of puffiness, but maybe you should just keep a spoon with your makeup all the time since they seem to have so many uses.
This video gives quite a few, but we really like this method of getting the right angle for your eyeshadow by tracing the outside of a spoon.

45. Line your brows before filling
The perfect brow starts from the bottom. Use your brow liner first before you start filling in your brows and trace a straight line in your desired shape.
While you might like a severe brow with nary a stray hair to be seen, brows tend to look more natural when you don’t outline them entirely. The bottom is where you want the straightest line – the top allows you some more leeway to embrace your natural shape.

46. Exfoliate lips for perfect lipstick application
No matter how good your application technique is, your lips won’t look good unless they’re moisturized and free of dead skin.
Using a lip balm and exfoliating nightlight with a toothbrush is a great way to keep them from getting dry and flaky, which allows your lipstick to settle into lines.

47. Use a toothbrush to smooth strays
It might just be worth getting a whole pack of toothbrushes for beauty hacks.
You’re not going to want to use the same brush you use on your teeth for this trick!
If you experience flyaways or broken hairs at your hairline or part, spray some hairspray on a toothbrush and gently brush them into place. The packed bristles will help keep your hair looking sleek.

48. Know where to put your product
A simple map is a great tool for beginners wanting to learn the tricks of contouring. For example, there are some places you never want to put dark powder, no matter how well you blend it.
This pic is a great start for those who want to know where to put highlighter and where to start with your darker contour powder.

49. Define your decollete
If you’re wearing a high drama gown that exposes your chest and want a defined look on your decollete, try using this contouring trick.
Just be careful when you give people a hug or else your makeup trick is going to ruin the night of anyone wearing black!

50. Line in white to make your eyes pop
Very few of us think to buy a white eyeliner, but it’s a great trick for making your eyes look wider, especially if you use it on your bottom lid.
You can also apply it to the corner of your eye, though you’ll need to do some blending.
Next time you’re at the store, grab a cheap one and see what a different it makes!

50 Seriously Creative Halloween Costumes That Are Hard To Top

Halloween is one of the most, if not THE most, creative holiday there is. People get to use that energy to create fantastical costumes that wow and delight. I mean, you could head to the store and buy a Halloween costume.
But that’s not as much fun as making your own. And some people really go over the top with their costumes. Not only do they come up with brilliant costume concepts, but they also incorporate electronics, sewing, painting, and other skills to make their Halloween masterpieces.
And these pieces really do impress. It’s a shame that they only get used for a day or a few hours during the holiday season. They should be put in a museum of DIY Halloween costumes. I’d pay to see that exhibit. But since that exhibit doesn’t yet exist, enjoy this slideshow instead.
Here are 50 seriously creative Halloween costumes that are hard to top:
1) Wizard of Oz Twister
Most people would dress up as Dorothy for Halloween. This person went all out as the twister that brought Dorothy to Oz and killed the Wicked Witch. This thing even spins.

75 Times People’s Taste Was Questionable, But Their Execution Was Flawless

The expression “It’s all a matter of taste” is true — most of the time. Sure, we all have different ways of dressing, doing our hair, and decorating our homes. But now and then, you run across something you know defies the saying. Some things are so tacky, ugly, and horrible, you can say definitively — it’s NOT a matter of taste. It’s just plain tasteless.
There are entire Reddit sub-threads dedicated to memorializing these tasteless treasures. Some of them are just plain horrible. Others are DIY disasters from people who think they’re artists but have no talent. Then some make you say “I can’t believe anyone would actually pay money for this.”
But the concept of some things is so bad, you automatically hate them. At the same time, the creations are done so well you can’t help but be impressed. In other words, they’re examples of awful taste but great execution. You can’t decide whether you love them or loathe them.
The subreddit known as r/ATBGE is dedicated to such treasures as these. It’s full of things that make you think, “Ugh, that’s horrible…but done well.”
1. This Van Gogh ear necklace
Legend has it that Vincent Van Gogh cut off his ear and mailed it to the woman he was in love with. Although the legend isn’t true, it’s still immortalized in this unique necklace.

2. This tacky handbag
Do you want to make sure you’re always stopped for an extra pat-down by airport security? Just carry this bag. You’ll also make everyone around you feel extremely nervous.

3. This Titanic inflatable slide
Even if you’re into dark humor, this blow-up slide in the shape of the Titanic might be a little bit too dark. I mean, come on, you guys. People died.

4. This minion fire stove
The internet got just a little bit too much mileage with minions, you know, the strange yellow creatures from the Despicable Me movie franchise. But maybe this is okay if you imagine it’s being tortured.

5. This knitted hat
No one likes to stare at organs — or replicas of them — which is why this hat is so unsettling. Can we all please keep those cerebella inside our skulls?

6. This baffling car
If you want everyone on the road to have a panic attack when you drive by, you should buy this car. There’s nothing like convincing other drivers that you’ve flipped over on the interstate.

7. These customized slippers
Have you ever seen a product that’s a little TOO customized? Just take these slippers, which are made to look exactly like your dogs. It’s a little too uncanny for comfort.

8. This dye job
Sure, the technique is impressive, and I’m sure it took a long time to complete. But the result is kind of bizarre. Why are my eyes crossing when I look at it?

9. This inedible purse
Of all the things to model a purse on, a packet of silica gel is a strange choice. To be fair, you shouldn’t eat silica gel or purses, so I guess they have that in common.

10. This unusual tile choice
This is what someone chose as the tile pattern for the staff’s office in a commercial building. Who doesn’t want to feel like they’re taking the scenic route when they go to get a cup of coffee?

11. This highlight job
Some people are very invested in the color of their car, for whatever reason. It seems as though one driver was invested enough to color the whole thing in highlighter. Is it a good job? Yes, but it’s also insanely tacky.

12. This hippo car
Someone came up with this bright idea for a car, then designed it and made it happen. They were that dedicated to creating a car that was also a hippo with sexy lips.

13. This grasshopper-shaped diner
These two grasshopper-shaped locomotives in Korea were stacked on top of one another to form a diner. Unfortunately, they look like they might necessitate a conversation about where baby grasshoppers come from.

14. This scorpion chair
To be fair, this chair is pretty awesome…if you want to feel like an evil villain every time you sit in it. But it’s also undeniably tacky. No one will be fighting over it for their inheritance.

15. This piercing and tattoo combo
Gages are a shocking fashion statement, so it makes sense they’re not for everyone. But here’s a pro tip: if you do get them, don’t have a hamster wheel tattooed on your neck.

16. This duct tape car
Introducing the newest in “painting” your car: not painting at all…just wrapping that sucker in duct tape. On the bright side, you’ll never have a problem finding it in a parking lot.

17. These muddy wedding cakes
Every couple getting married has different tastes — some prefer to keep things classy while others prefer something more laid-back. But His and Hers cakes with mud on them? Come on, that’s disgusting.

18. This catfish car
What’s even more unnerving than a hippo car? A catfish car of course, complete with headlights as eyes. Everyone wants their car to look like the ugliest fish in the lake.

19. This nostalgic shirt
For anyone who was once a child (so…all of us), it’s easy to recognize the pattern on this shirt. Nothing like turning the rug we used to play on into an article of clothing. Is this cute or is it weird?

20. This unpleasantly realistic jewelry
How much do you like pickles? To wear a necklace like this, you’d have to love them. Who knew the contents of your sandwich could also be decorations?

21. This unappetizing cappuccino
A talented latte artist can make some unbelievable concoctions. But please, baristas everywhere, stick to flowers and designs and leave the bugs out of our morning joe.

22. These questionable bedsheets
Nothing says “creepy” quite like a bedsheet that depicts hundreds of sperm swimming towards an egg. This would be the worst thing to put on the bed in your guest room.

23. This dignified casket
Funerals are intended to honor our loved ones and make sure their lives are remembered as they’re laid to rest. And what better way to do that than with a flame-covered hot rod casket?

24. This blinding car
Chrome is a questionable choice at the best of times, much like pleather or Crocs. Now imagine a whole outfit made entirely out of Croc material. That’s this car.

25. These steampunk wheels
We get it, you’re into steampunk — you don’t have to go overboard. Frankly, the cogs of these wheels look deadly. I’m a little bit afraid they’re going to hurt someone.

26. This horrifying sweater
I don’t know what’s going on with this sweater, but regardless, all the options are horrifying. Are Santa’s performing sex acts on one another? Is it one long human centipede? I can’t decide what’s worse.

27. This confusing car
You can look at this car for a while, but unfortunately, you’re not going to get any answers. The only conclusion is it’s modeled after a child’s drawing of a car.

28. This unusual wood stove
This is one of those statement pieces with a bit too much statement. Sure, wood stoves are wonderful, but is it really necessary for it to be sitting on a giant piece of construction equipment?

29. These practical Crocs
Remember Crocs, the hideous shoes of the mid-2000s? Someone managed to make them even more horrible with the addition of a chain and some spikes. On the bright side, he’s got our attention.

30. This scorpion hairstyle
Forget having a normal hairstyle. Why not shave your hair into the shape of a terrifying insect that scares most people out of their wits? It’s a perfect way to make friends. Bonus points if you include a scrawny braid.

31. This lizard haircut
If a scorpion won’t do, how about a lizard sitting right on top of your head? It’s the best way to ensure no one makes eye contact with you ever again.

32. This…unusual chair
With the rise of the DIY movement, you’ll see furniture made out of all kinds of different things. But dozens of identical stuffed seals are taking it to another, much weirder, level.

33. This terrifying makeup tutorial
A talented makeup artist can do amazing things, but there are some places they shouldn’t go. For example, this Peppa Pig makeup job. It’s flawless in execution but the results are terrifying.

34. This unusable living room
There’s loving Christmas and then there’s loving Christmas so much that you render your living room unusable for the month of December. I’m guessing these people don’t have pets or small kids.

35. These furry iPhone cases
They say you can find almost anything on the internet these days, but that’s not always a good thing. A prime example is these creepy cat iPhone cases. Just, why?

36. This frightening skeleton chair
Sure, it might look pretty cool, but no one wants to sit in this chair. It would feel a little bit too much like sitting in someone’s lap. A very, very bony lap.

37. These instant noodle shoes
Yes, believe it or not, these are considered luxury shoes. It’s pretty ironic, considering they depict food for poor college students on a .25 budget. They’re also horrifically ugly.

38. This stomach-turning cake
If you can believe it, this is a cake was ordered for the staff at a hospital. The work they did is amazing work, but there’s something unnerving about eating a cake that has skin, organs, and nipples.

39. These bewildering eyebrows
Her makeup looks enchanting until you look a little closer. Those aren’t vines or random designs; they’re tiny, seductively-posing Shrek figures. Why, why would you do that?

40. This delicious but strange Christmas tree
What better way to advertise your fried chicken restaurant during the holidays than with a Christmas tree made out of drumsticks? Or rather, what better way to waste an enormous amount of food?

41. This dangerous car stove
This rigged-up wood stove is so dangerous that I can’t believe the car hasn’t exploded yet. At the same time, I’m also pretty impressed how they managed to install it and get it to work.

42. This monstrous vehicle
The inside of this car needs no explanation, which is good because I don’t think I could come up with one. It’s quite possibly the most horrifying thing I’ve ever seen.

43. This delicious bed
Ah, the 70s, when you could buy a bed that looked exactly like a hamburger. With pickles for pillows and veggies as blankets, it’s pretty amazing. But you do have to wonder, why?

44. This combination of fandoms
Some people love to cosplay, and then there are others who belong to so many fandoms they can’t choose a cosplay. And that’s how we end up with new characters, like Darth Kitty.

45. This festive beard
Facial hair is back in a big way, and men are taking the opportunity to dress theirs up for the holidays. It’s amazingly well done, but we can’t decide if we love it or hate it.

46. These hydrating earrings
When you’re designing jewelry, you have a whole world of options to choose from. Why would you choose pieces of garbage to make these?

47. This helpful toilet paper holder
There’s a fine line between kitsch and creepy, and unfortunately, this toilet paper holder crosses that line. None of us want some Dr. Seuss hands giving us toilet paper, but thank you anyway.

48. This rustic chair
These days, rustic styles are popular in everything from clothing to home decor to furniture. But this one is just a little too “yeehaw” to be considered good taste.

49. These porcelain drumsticks
You might have a lot of questions when you look at these porcelain drumsticks. But the foremost one on your mind should probably be: “Why?” I can’t think of any reason these need to exist.

50. This helpful but awkward figure
What’s worse than a pair of hands emerging from the wall to hand you toilet paper? How about a butler figure not wearing pants with a toilet plunger on his head?

51. This furry motorcycle
Motorcycles are widely seen as cool, but this one might just break the stereotype. I know they’re going for a hardcore vibe, but you can’t tell me they don’t pet that lion while they’re on the road.

52. This delicious cake
Talented bakers can make cakes look like almost anything. But there are some ideas they should pass on when making a replica in the frosting. A dirty ashtray full of stale cigarettes is one of those.
53. This deadly toilet seat
Let’s be honest: is it ever necessary to have a design on your toilet seat? Anything you can think of will automatically become creepy just because it’s on the toilet.
54. These nails make everyone uncomfortable
Nail art can be amazing, and it takes real talent to make the design look realistic. Note that we said “realistic,” not “good.” This is some straight-up horror movie stuff.

55. This creative Christmas ornament
This silver spray-painted Christmas tree made out of pasta noodles is something you would expect to see at your grandma’s house. What is it about grandmas that gives them such eclectic taste in Christmas decor?

56. This regal toilet
I know they call it the porcelain throne, but this is taking it just a step too far. What’s next, a crown designed to wear while you do your business? A royal manservant to help with the toilet paper?

57. This festive meat house
Gingerbread houses are those beautiful, intricate, and delicious creations used to decorate the table during the holidays. Then there’s this monstrosity, which is made out of meat. While the concept is disgusting, you have to admit the execution is good.
58. This meat sail
Themed weddings always get a little weird, even if the couple tries to keep them classy. If you’re going to have a Viking-themed wedding, you might want to steer clear of a charcuterie table with meat “sails.”
59. This rabbit car
If you want people to take you seriously on the road — or at all, for that matter — you don’t want to buy a car shaped like a rabbit. People will start to wonder about you.

60. This alarming paint
Funny, I remember the part of driver’s ed where they talk about defensive driving and staying safe on the road. I don’t remember the part where they told us to paint our cars to look like they were involved in manslaughter.

61. This eclectic tea seat
I don’t think many people suffer from a tea addiction. But if you know someone who does, this is the perfect tea set to break them of it. They probably won’t ever think about tea again.

62. This fantastic purse
Talk about being a statement piece. This chicken purse might not be in the best of taste, but you can’t deny it’ll draw attention wherever you go. Why do I have the urge to squeeze it like a dog toy?

63. This sponsored knick-knack
When looking for knick-knacks to place around your house, you might want to avoid anything with the KFC logo on it. Unless, of course, you love KFC that much.

64. This overly-detailed urinal
This urinal is supposed to be in the shape of a certain flower known for bearing a resemblance to the female anatomy. Can we all agree to just keep urinals in the shape of urinals?
65. This alarming decoration
“How do I show the world I’m a hunter who loves to kill things but also gets festive for the holidays? Wait, I have an amazing idea. That’ll make the neighbors love us.”
66. This violently festive house
Calm down there, Buddy the elf. There’s loving Christmas and getting in the spirit of the holidays, and then there’s making your house look like Santa’s workshop exploded across the front of it.
67. This strange but oddly charming tattoo
I have a lot of questions about this tattoo even though there’s something adorable about it. Maybe the presence of a cat is distracting me from the overwhelming weirdness of it.
68. These classy candles
I don’t even know what you would use these candles for. Either you give them to your romantic partner as a way of expressing your feelings for them or you buy them just because they’re that tacky.
69. These fast food-themed shoes
How much do you love McDonald’s? Is it enough to buy and wear these shoes? Just don’t wear them out of the country or you’ll prove every stereotype about Americans.
70. This uncomfortable chair
What kind of materials should you use to upholster a chair? Forget all those comfortable materials — why not use something known for durability instead of comfort?
71. This friendly couch
Teddy bears are the cute and cuddly parts of our childhood that we all loved. But as this couch shows, it’s possible to turn them from adorable pieces of childhood nostalgia to horrifying furniture monsters.
72. This beautiful dress
We’ve all seen those cakes with a Barbie in the middle wearing what appears as a beautiful gown. But don’t worry, this person found a way to ruin them by replacing the design with meat.

73. This hopefully delicious cake
It’s almost as though the baker asked themselves “What’s the worst possible thing to think about eating?” and ran with that as a theme. On a positive note, you’ll have no problem sticking to your diet.

74. These unique earrings
I don’t know what’s worse, the fact these earrings exist or that they cost $75. Thank goodness we know they’re girl sperm — we can tell by the bows.

75. This terrifying cat chair
How do you turn cats from adorable pets to terrifying monsters? Acquire this chair. The dead-eyed stare along with the long “fur” and protruding tongue will haunt your nightmares.

DIY
40 Failed DIY Solutions To Ward Off Coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic caught many of us by surprise and has led to some downright thoughtful and useful DIY projects in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.
However, these DIY efforts may not fall into that category.
In fact, we’re not entirely sure what to think about some of them.
However, we do know that a little laughter rarely hurts, so have a look for yourself:
#1 Using what you have
Not everyone was prepared with full PPE. In fact, it’s probably best to leave enough for the frontline medical workers. This guy wearing a bear costume instead of a mask took it a step further and left one medical worker in a much better mood. She couldn’t stop laughing.
Neither can we.

#2 Don’t touch your face!
We all know that touching your face should be avoided at all costs to stop the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. However, this guy may have gone too far in his noble effort to slow the virus.

#3 Social distancing
It’s important to leave space between people to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. This guy wanted to remind everyone. Maybe he’s just a poet, and he doesn’t know it?

#4 Just the essentials
They didn’t have the right kind of mask, or did they? They also might have the wrong “case of Corona.”
At least the bag of limes will contain some much-needed vitamin C.

#5 Wrong battle
We commend their valiant attempt. If the virus were a dragon, it would be dead before it even made it down the frozen food aisle.

#6 Corona-vampire slayer?
The mask is interesting. What is even more interesting is the garlic dangling from it. Maybe he knows something we don’t.

#7 It’s not every day
Unicorns are normally fairly hard to find, especially in a grocery store aisle. However, COVID-19 has changed a lot in our lives for now.

#8 When you really don’t want anyone near you
Some of us take social distancing more seriously. This person takes it extremely seriously.

#9 Serious style
We can’t actually fault this one. This might become the latest fashion.

#10 Remember the dog
The dog still needs to be walked, even in a pandemic. This could be a solution? Sort of? We wonder what the dog is thinking.

#11 Can’t go wrong with Star Wars
She didn’t have a mask, but she wanted to walk the dog. This works, right?

#12 Replacement filter
People are getting creative with filters. We’re not sure that this filter is doing much good, although it is still good for a laugh.

#13 The smoking mask
He wanted to stay safe. He also really wanted a cigarette. What could possibly go wrong?

#14 Jug head?
Creativity is essential in a time like this, but should there be limits?

#15 COVID-19 fashion
While we’re not entirely sure it’s appropriate attire for the supermarket, it does seem to offer some protection against the virus…possibly.

#16 Making the most of it
Who said you have to go with plain goggles if you are going to wear them? No one. That’s who.

#17 A classic
This was one of the first coronavirus memes to come out. It’s good. Just don’t use this as an actual mask.

#18 When you want to be sure
She needed to use public transportation. That didn’t mean she wanted to catch the virus.

#19 Setting ego aside
Sometimes, the only thing you have in the house to protect you from a potentially deadly disease is the last thing you would normally wear on your face in public.

#20 Hair protection
Doctors and nurses often wear hair protection, but how often does the average DIY personal protection equipment creator think of it? Well, this person did.

#21 When there’s nothing else available
It might be better than nothing. What do you think?

#22 Badass grandma
Apparently, these were the only masks left online when she went to order them. We’re not sure if we believe her or if grandma is just finally taking the opportunity to show how tough she really is.

#23 Safety in numbers
What’s better than a PPE-making quarantine project for one person? One for the whole family!

#24 Do not place over head
Desperate times call for desperate measures, but there is never a good time to put a plastic bag over your head. Ever.

#25 The Emperor knows best
He always provides for his troops. Right? Right???

#26 She tried
We have to give her an A for effort. We just don’t know how much good it will do.

#27 When you were always prepared
Nuclear war, chemical attack, a novel virus… Sometimes you already have everything you need.

#28 The 2020 MacGyver
He took the classic jug-mask and took it one step further by installing a filter. It may not look pretty, but there is a chance this might actually be doing the job. A chance…

#29 Italian style
Italy was one of the first and hardest-hit countries to see the virus. There wasn’t much time to prepare. In this case, scuba gear was all this shopper could come up with in a hurry.

#30 It takes guts to wear this one
We have to admit, he is braver than most if he is willing to be seen in public with this particular item attached to his face.
The wings also seem to be oddly well-suited for making sure this “mask” fits well.

#31 Produce aisle solution
Who said that vegetables were just for eating? Apparently, you can use them as a mask as well…possibly.

#32 Where are the air holes?
No, seriously, how are they breathing? Any ideas?

#33 The only way to be sure
Sometimes, you just want to survive but still need a few things from the store. This might be how to do both.

#34 Breathing is out
We know she just did this for the laughs, but we have to ask. How long did she have to hold her breath to take the picture?

#35 PPE heels
She’s going in the right direction with this outfit. Although, we wonder about the heels. Are those certified?

#36 Dating
Hey, life goes on, even with social distancing. This guy has the right idea. At least she seems to think it’s cute.

#37 Our heroes
They are out in the cold and harsh world to bravely walk the dog. Sure, it’s suburbia, but don’t let them know that.

#38 When there is nothing else available
We all know how hard it is to find PPE. In fact, in most cases, you’re out of luck unless you make your own. Or unless you repurpose that Halloween mask…
#39 Doing it in style
That mask might not be stopping any pesky viruses, but it did cause a few shoppers to stop and snap a picture. Close enough?

#40 Don’t forget the car
While we’re all busy thinking about how to protect ourselves, this person has been thinking about more than just personal safety. They also considered the needs of their vehicle. Thoughtful?
